  1. Another theory -- one that’s more widely accepted -- is that the plane Miller was flying in was destroyed by friendly fire. That theory was first proposed in the 1980s as intriguing evidence about the Norseman plane came to light. It was discovered that 138 planes returning from an aborted Allies bombing raid disposed of their bombs over the English Channel, and the theory is that one hit Miller's plane, causing it to crash. Citing U.S. Army Air Force records, Spragg says the timing of when the planes were over the channel rules out that theory. > > > >Miller never
  2. Just Google it. The bombing and kidnapping are just urban myths from what I've read,,
  3. he looks at you and you can see him thinking “I know you called me but I will just do this first”. I know someone who tells me her husband is just like that!
  4. Yup still as good second time around!...
  5. That's really good, much better than the interminable thatched cottage and roses my neighbour goes in for.
  6. No need for the shelter FG you are entitled to your opinion the same as everyone else.
  7. This is worth a read. I make no claim of authorship and not having permission to reprint it I offer only the link. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone in particular, you must judge for your self the relevance of the article. https://www.learning-mind.com/attention-seeking-behavior/
  8. I don't know the ins and outs of a situation like that BK but it don't seem right to me mate...
  9. It's a bit like telling the world of illegal activities and then crying foul when someone happens to mention it! It's not big and it's not clever.......
  10. There is no doubt Ayeup that microwave RF energy is dangerous but lets remember you were playing with 100watts of transmission power, possibly for a prolonged period of time (you didn't say). At that level of power there is a strong possibility of raising the temperature of the intraocular fluid in your eyes. Whilst serious your experience can hardly be compared to a few minutes using a mobile phone under normal conditions but I do agree these things should be treated with respect. Were mobiles available when my children were young I doubt I would have allowed them to have one.
  11. I have yet to see a study that is not connected in some way to a commercial organisation that shows evidence of causality between power lines and cancer. The problem with 'studies' is who is paying for them and what's their agenda, they are looking for evidence of what exactly? The British Journal of Cancer would I think, dearly love to prove a link and point the finger. To that end they have collated data from eleven studies from round the world but failed to find a firm correlation between power lines and cancer. The situation is similar with cell phone transmiss
  12. Col we know you're a born worrier but there are times when you should pay attention to what your body is telling you. Heed your neighbour and don't bogger about, if whatever you're doing is hurting - stop doing it! Hope it's not serious and you soon feel better.
  13. Wow, not too many people would admit to burglary on a public forum and present it as something clever to do. I wonder who the accomplices were..
  14. Well you shouldn't have stood on her toes for so long....
  15. Fly has good point though, why trek thousands of miles to reach the UK when there is safe refuge only a short distance from their borders
  16. And you think PJs in a charity are bad? You may want mind bleach! https://www.google.com/search?q=walmart+people+photos&tbm=isch&source=hp&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwib4p2UiLLgAhVLVRUIHZn3BZMQsAR6BAgEEAE&biw=1200&bih=823
  17. I think we, you and I and people of our generation are the last to enjoy driving purely as a pastime, driving for the sake of it. Technology will eventually mean there will be no need for a licence, there will be no private vehicles. It may be down the road awhile yet but it's coming.
  18. Didn't say they were the most dangerous. The idea of starting with them is the fact there are fewer eighty year old driving than seventy yr olds and thus gives time to gather the infrastructure needed. Cost? who funds the test now, who funds MOTs? - just make them self financing. With your background I'm sure you can see how it could be made to stand on it's own. I'm also sure you will know that even a loss to the treasury can still be good for the economy.
  19. Five million sounds a lot but we don't have to test them all at once you know. Start with the eighty year olds and work down It would be phased and you have to remember that training an examiner only takes six weeks! so a couple of years? easy peasy...
  20. It would take maybe a couple of years true but why should it be any more difficult than recruiting and training a production crew? Toyota did it in Derby. Nissan did it in Sunderland... Just rang RoSPA the web site is confusing, it is free for the assessment, £55 to become a member.
  21. Where are all the examiners coming from? Same place they do now. It's a job like any other so simply recruit and train them.
  22. If you contact your local RoSPA group the initial assessment is free. I'm a little out of touch with the IAM but that also was free. With RoSPA you pay a subscription (no where near as much as the IAM) to become a member and all the meetings and tuition is free. There is no time limit or even a requirement to take a test. https://www.roadar.org.uk/drivers/index.htm
  23. The Tower is just beyond the café. Went in the café every morning, worst tea ever!
  24. It's a bit of stretch mate from dress standards to swearing at the kids but I can see where you're going. The problem is we all do something that would raise eyebrows in our grandparents day but is acceptable now. Times change and fashion changes fastest of all. The standards we set now are not what our predecessors would have thought appropriate. Consider the old 1920/30/40s seaside pictures on here. Ladies in their Sunday best on the prom, men in a full suit and tie on the beach! Compare them to some of the excellent seaside pictures you have posted. Great granny wou
