  1. Roger, it was the boiler house stack for Boots years ago, been up it a few times. It was an easy laddering job as it has LB1s to fix the ladders to. When we went up Eastcroft stack many years ago, Hooleys garage had their new cars stored in the firing line of the 'bitcho ' paint we were using to paint the smoke band. And yes, many cars got splattered!, Furse's insurance had a big hit!!. (Nowt to do with cop shops but the stacks were mentioned).
  2. I was teaching at the CITB when NVQs were introduced and in a very short time the instructors decided that the correct terminology for the scheme was Not Very Qualified.
  3. I totally agree with you there TBI, when I used to ride up to Assen i sometimes used to stay overnight in Belgium and was always made to feel welcome. Wonderful folks.

  7. My mother and father were in the raf based at swinderby (just before my time) and lived in a cottage in collingham, i was hatched at Newark hospital and apparently moved to st Ann's when I were about 4months old. My dad knew a guy who had a farm in Eagle, his name was Cyril ........ I did know his surname, but buggered if I can remember it. The one thing I remembered about Cyril was, although a smoker, never used an ashtray, he would always flick his ash into his trouser turn up!!.
  8. Should have given me a call, could have put some 'jack ladders ' up for you, no limit to height with them!!
  9. You could put your painting talent to use, doing those chalk paintings (chalkings!) on pavements and get a few bob for your efforts, no expenses=100% profit, just stay below your tax allowance and its win win.
  10. Sorry nonna, all of your reply didn't come through straightaway, so missed the last bit. Seen it now and understand
  11. And all the chalk you want, for free. Lol
  12. Our drive in Norfolk was nearly 150 sq mts of brick weave ( best part of 7500 blocks) and i covered that ok ! Or do you mean that the joints are too wide, as you get with permeable paving ? Otherwise I don't know what you mean by too many to be effective!
  13. Put mine down as well please Clifton, whenever I Google stuff (well most of the time) i never seam to get the answer I was expecting yet others ask the same question and get what they want !!
  14. Just going back to enigmas photo, where did they keep the buses previously? I thought psd had plenty of space !
  15. The only reason that your friends have had problems is because it was not done correctly. Unfortunately there are plenty of cowboys out there that will pick up on the slightest hint of no knowledge. As I said earlier, weeds will not grow up from beneath if it's been done correctly. That applies to Any sort of paving, be it slabs, blocks, asphalt, shingle etc.
  16. I'm not sure what your impression of a sealer is, but it comes in a liquid form that you simply apply with a roller. Usually 2 coats is sufficient .
  17. Who's arguing?, Just expressing my view, sorry if you don't like it, but like you say ' different members have differing views '. The
  18. You don't need to hold it, just get a 'Go-Pro and take part, he he.
  19. At least they were "nottstalgic" and interesting, and as others have said, if your not interested, skip that post, that's what I do. Simples
  20. Nonna, just use the power washer with a fan jet, not the needle point. Once clean, resand the joints and use a good quality sealer. After that you won't need to get the flame thrower out again. Oops, meant to say, providing your patio was installed correctly to start with. If not, then keep the flame thrower handy!!
  21. Blimey Carni, your old enough to be my sister. There's folks out there (go on you tube) old enough to be your mum that go wingwalking. That's basically folks that can't afford the seats inside, he, he.
  22. Blimey Carni, for someone who doesn't fly, you get about a bit. Conceived in Gedling, born in Penkridge. You just need a passport and the 'world is your lobster' as dell boy would say.
  23. Maybe not fly, but they put a lot of Nottingham related topics on here!! I am sure there are a lot of other members that feel the same. Might be wrong, lets see.
  24. Would that also be the same room as the conception took place? Only wondering, with the remark, Aah memories. Nudge nudge, wink wink.
