  1. When I were a Park ranger at Holme Pierrpont, I recall a terrible smell emanating from across the Trent in the Colwick area. I mentioned it to the other ranger who was with me and he said, " Oh that's coming from the maggot farm. They're cleaning out the pens".
  2. Oz, is your clip from YT from Disneyland Paris or one of the others? If not, it's identical to when we went about 7 years ago. Being on our own we used to look for a family with young kids, that way it looked like we were part of the group. We used to stand next to the kids and look vacant , it always worked.
  3. I trust you took a camera with you Nonna.
  4. With my type of luck, I probably ended up marrying the father. Lovely pair of girls though LL.
  5. It could be construed as non essential perhaps.
  6. How's my day? Well as a matter of fact it is my Nottstalgia birthday !! It was two years today when I signed up. It only seems like yesterday. With 4,628 posts and 46? days won. Maybe it's time I cut back on the waffle and banter. "Happy Birthday to meee".
  7. Can't say as I can recall my first kiss, it couldn't have been that memorable. What I do remember though was going out with a girl, whose dad was landlord of the Midland hotel, Wollaton Road. She was an identical twin and she and her sister used to swap and I never knew the difference. I must have been about 17.
  8. As kids, we used to go chestnutting to Wollaton Park via Harrow Road and through a small gate. The Chestnut trees lined the route up to the hall, (the golf course on the left). At Sheffield Park where I work, we have three Sweet Chestnut trees that are 500 years old and still produce fruit. Never find any though, the bloody tourist nick 'em.
  9. I seem to recall that one year the folks who do these things decided to not bother changing the clocks and I don't think anybody noticed. Didn't they also do some called "Double Summertime", although I can't remember what it was. Anybody help on that?
  10. Sorry, made a mistake. Mines a Clockwork car !
  11. Mines a Sundial on the bonnet. Bugger to read at dusk.
  12. Hey !! I had a car like that Trogg.
  13. For what it's worth, I'll tell yu'all how I met my good lady of 55 years. It was August 19th, 1962. She was waiting at the bus stop on Granby Street with her younger sister, Yvonne. I was the conductor on the 16A to Bilborough, Coventry Lane, (what was just a crossroads with Wollaton rd). It was the 12.02 from the city, and I helped her little 8 year old sister onto the bus, (a good way of striking up a conversation ! Worked every time). Between collecting fares, we chatted, as they were sitting on the long seat just inside the bus. As we approached their stop at Bradfield Road, I thought it
  14. I have swam many times at that lock Pianoman, either in the lock when full or in the upper pound. Could have only been about 10/11/12 ish. Wouldn't be allowed near water at that age nowadays.
  15. Thank you Jill, just watched it. Scary or what? The close up at the start was bad enough, looking at their eyes...Oooer!
  16. Watched it Jill, but I can't dance in French. Didn't see any slomo.
  17. Wenslydale as a matter of fact.
  18. Another one was Barnips. Little squares of rock hard something that cleared your sinuses, loved 'em. Another one was Zubes. Did find both of them in Boots, Norwich, about 4 years ago. Must have been in a time warp. Jill, there's nowt wrong with Black pudding. You should try it sometime, (your cats would like it too).
  19. Hi Gem, glad to hear your OK. Sorry about your Aunt. Your not on your own with isolation. We have been self isolating now for 222 days, with no end in sight. It's getting to the point where we dare'nt go anywhere. Take care. B.
