  3. notty ash it is a Humber Super Snipe it had the Blue Ribband six cylinder engine 4.1 litre ohv exellent fuel economy 12mpg if you were lucky worked on them in the late 50s and early 60s. I think they put the same engine in the Commer lorry. I wish i had one now just for shows.
  4. My father had one to i used it to shoot at crows and rooks it also could shoot the different colored darts. I was about 10 years old at the time.

Hi Mitch the railway cutting was filled in the late 70s though i am only guessing Spencer dr. is now pretty much private i lived at 3 spencer dr.from 1949 until 1968.As you say access to Redfield House is by New Farm Lane which is still operated by my fathers relative John Hatton i last saw him five years ago when we visited England.I remember as a child there was a railway line ran at the sideof Redfield House which for shunting it seemed to behind Blanchards bakery was something to do with the NCB.i would like to see the old ordnance survey map of the area thanks.

Hi Mary just did the drive on google from Hucknall to Watnall village i have never seen so many traffic islands i was lost until i arrived at Linby i remember the Royal Oak and the Griffins Head at Papplewick. In 1964 i was in the Midland General Omnibus rally club we would meet at the G.H. and do some driving skills tests in the field at the side.

  11. Mary i did not know Cottees at the Mason Arms i was last there a couple of times in 1964 i would not know Hucknall at all if i come back for a visit i will need a map sorry to see the aerodrome gone thanks Ian.

  13. Is the Masons Arms still at Hucknall near Ruffs est. Annnie Holgate school and a road they called the Black Pad always seemed scarey my friend lived on Avon Ave. across from the runway at the aerodrome but he passed away a few years ago.As kids we would walk from Nuthall across the fields and through the woods to Bulwell springs on the Bulwell side of the runway to catch tadpoles we also went on that side of the runway to watch great airshows no crowds on that side with a better view one time the military police came over to us thought he was going tell us clear off but all he wanted to do wa

Hi katyjay when was your dad at NCV a friend of mine worked there in the early 60s his name was Dennis Humm did you know Rod Blanchard i think he had some dealings with NCV his father was George Blanchard started the bakery at Watnall which made Wonderloaf bread.George brought my fathers garage at Watnall for Rod in 1968 he used it like a playboy rather than a business racing go-karts ,mini coopers and lotus cortinas.Ithink the bakery was bought out by Spillers.
  21. There was a pub i think it was called The Bowling Green it was close to the Dungeon Club called in for a drink there in 1967 is it still there? Can not remember the street name.

I did the same as you loppylugs did the day release at PCFE got the EMEU east midlands education union and C and G emmigated to Canada challenged the Journeyman exam for mechanics and passed also studied for industrial millwright which i got a Journey certificate the millwright pay is much better than a motor mechanic still millwrighting today.

  24. Thanks katyjay i could not remember the name Bramley he lived two houses up from us on Spencer dr. Nuthall he was quite old in the 60s a very pleasant chap.
