And .... Not sure if you'll be getting the same adverts but who's that man who sings Silver Lady on the National Express advert that was just on here? He's good!

I missed it Lizzie, but was it David Soul, that is who used to sing it years ago.

I just looked it up and He will probably have a hit with the song again!

David Soul has had a battle with alcoholism for many years and it cost him a few marriages. There were many cases of him assaulting his wives. Sad isn't it, it seems that all our heroes are letting us down. Attached is a newspaper article from a couple of years ago.

Crikey, just watched it on you tube. He's gone from hunk to chunk. Used to love him in the 70's/80's. He did a concert somewhere on the outskirts of London, my neighbour who adored him had a spare ticket, and took me. My one and only concert!

Re. David Soul

Much as I like the bloke, he has a very chequered past.

He was a singer called The Covered Man in the 60's where he wore a blaclava and wouldn't show his face.

I seem to recall something about him being a male escort at one point.

He's been married 5 times and I dare say has a fair bit of alimony draining his finances - enough to drive anyone to drink!

I enjoyed the Motown thing on ITV. Very rare for them to show that kind of thing, until you realise that it was a sponsored programme specifically to promote a new compilation that has just been released.

There were some great clips that I hadn't seen before and I always like to hear from musicians and people who were involved and there at the time. Craig Charles seemed like a bizarre choice for the voice-over.

Some of the talking heads I'd never heard of at all.

I have a copy of "Standing In The Shadow of Motown" It the history of the Funk Brothers, the session musicians who played all the music for the Motown stars.

John recorded the programme, just watching it now, as tea cooks....(bambi burgers with jacket wedges and salad, incase you're interested)......It's certainly taking me back to me yoof! Great stuff.

Re David Soul, I used to love him in Starsky and Hutch and was gutted when I found out he was a wife beater (it was hot news in the 70's)
