All the executions in the world won't bring back the victims or prevent the future killings. But there are numerous cases of the innocent being killed by the state. Timothy Evans and Derek Bentley stand out in my lifetime. God only knows how many innocents have been murdered by American states, where justice seems to be a political issue. Did any of us know that Nazi Germany used the Guillotine to murder people? Sometimes those poor sods were lying on their backs, facing the blade!
