Thankyou very much for the welcome Michael. Maybe I will find many (or even a few) old friends here. Browsing yesterday I came across a name that was part of a familiar phrase here in Italy, looking at photo I didn't recognize him straightaway but on a second look it turned out to be the husband of a close friend of mine. We keep in touch regularly and actually heard from her yesterday. Telepathy perhaps? Anyway hello D. (Chulla)

Certainly I have a lot of fond memories of Nottingham after all it was my home for many years although it wasn't my birth place. Certainly I will post.

Hi I'm Brenda , Born in Barrow in Furness, went to live in Nottingham when I was 5. Married in Nottm and in 1970 went to live in Italy returned to Nottm in 1971. Went back to live in Italy in 1988 and stayed until 1994. The sunshine and wine called us again and now we are here from 2000 and here we will stay. I'm getting too old for all this packing and unpacking. Besides both my children and grandchildren are here.

We live in the north near Asti ( home of Asti Spumante) in the midst of the vineyards and not far from the village of Barolo. Anyone interested in adopting a line of vines? We have an adoption plan here in the village. The plan is to adopt a line or two, help with the vendemia ( picking grapes) join in the local activities ( making it part of a holiday) and in May every year we have La festa del vino ( wine festival)

You take home 6 bottles of wine ( Barbera) labeled with your own name. The festival consists of various courtyards with food and wine. The idea is you can try all the wines and local dishes at a low price.

We have visitors from all over Europe and it's a fantastic festival.

Thankyou all. What an honor to be the first member from Italy. We have quite a few here in the village.

Maybe we know each other Trevor.

Welcome To Nottstalgia nonnaB. I look forward to reading your stories of life in Italy.

Asti Spumante, That label caused me an embarrassment in the 1970s. We kept a Beer Off until the early 80s and sold quite a lot of Asti Spumante. I, for some reason got the pronunciation wrong and for years called it Asti Sputamane. No idea until a customer thought it really funny and decided to tell me. We had a good laugh and I never got it wrong after that.

Enjoy Nottstalgia nonnaB.

Welcome from me in Oz nonnaB, Asti was one of my favorite wines when younger, even though I was never a big wine fan, now we only drink fizzy wine here in oz but only a couple of bottles a week max.

Look forward to your Nottm memories.

#7 Cliff Ton, are you insinuating that Bulwell is a foreign country? Well, I never knew that! Before I visit there, can someone get me a phrase book please...

And hello to nonnaB - same age as me. Enjoy Nottstalgia..

#7 CT. nonnaB is an ex-Cinderhillian, who lived close to the border with Bulwell Regis. What finer pedigree could you wish for!

Hi NonnaB Welcome to Nottstalgia. I like the idea of adopting a vine, and the free bottles of wine, what a great idea for a holiday. Something I may think about for when we retire from the Caravan Club thumbsup

#17. You certainly do need a passport to enter Bulwell - we are choosy who we let in. Catfan is the Chief Immigration Officer (slip him a couple of Hobgoblins and he might let you sneak in).

nonnaB, if you are reading this; the attributes or otherwise of Bulwell are a contentious source of amusement on this forum.

Welcome nonnaB, I've just come back from a trip so missed your joining of the clan. Just sent you a message asking if I knew you, but I see I do! Good to see you on here.
