jackson 301
Remember the days when Bulwell Market was held on a tiny island? And with the volume of traffic around, you really took your life in your own hands trying to get to it!
RGR 218
Remember the market when it was a traffic circle back in the 60's, still could find a few bargains there. Was there last your with my mother and we had fish n'chips at Sandersons chip shop. There use to be an upstairs that is now sealed off. Still a great meal.

jackson 301
More should be made of this area with its Tudor style facades; is it because the alleyway is in Bulwell that the Council just doesn't bother!
Michael Booth 7,364
They are very attractive buildings so maybe it's time they were demolished by the City Council.....lol
Cliff Ton 10,488
If you'd posted that photo without saying where it was, how many people would've guessed Bulwell?
katyjay 5,091
Not me, and I still can't figure out where it is in Bulwell.
katyjay 5,091
Does that sign on the left say Arnold Carpets? It's not in Arnold is it?
Michael Booth 7,364
I've just looked up 'Arnold Carpets' and they are near Pilkington St. off the Bulwell High Rd.
jackson 301
The area is a stone's throw from Bulwell Market - opposite Wilkos Hardware; if you walked past quickly, you'd miss it.
Cliff Ton 10,488
I think this is it. Look in the middle of the image http://www.bing.com/...o=0&form=LMLTCC
jackson 301
Hi Cliff Ton - thanks for this. I was going to identify the place as being on Main Street but wasn't too sure; now I have learnt from your map that Main Street is a mighty long road!
.... 23
Cliff Ton's pic is exactly where it is. I worked in Bulwell for a few years and would sometimes have a wander round there on my break. I was always impressed with that little yard and I agree that more should be made of it.
poohbear 1,360
And a little way behind those buildings was an old forge that dated from the 1600s...I worked there for a while 30 years ago.Being a period building made from sandstone blocks with lots of history...they of course demolished it to make a car park.
