Just a light hearted muse on things that were Mick. It's the same for anytown these days - not picking on Nottm. in particular.

Here's the site for you Compo.

Nottingham is Crap

[quote

Nottingham is Crap

Still have the quote echo! I was skimming through the above site and noticed a couple of interesting points:

1. Council heating bills: What happened to that wonderful piece of kit at Eastcroft, the local pioneer of 'waste to heat' site? It was a brilliant idea and a leader of its time.

2. Dispersal order in Forest Fields: I recall, when I was a lad (there's that dreaded 'when I' again), the bobbies often came along with a "Nah then lads - move along there". It was expected and at least a couple of times in an average evening we would be 'dispersed' by the police, with whom we had a kind of love/hate relationship. So why are 'special' powers needed? surely the police already have the power to move folk along?

  • 3 years later...

Being retired, not having to live a regimented life and more time gardening...... The downside is of course having to adhere to madams orders... What did I just say about regimentation.......I have just received my orders for today. Ouch!

When I was a child living in Morris Terrace, Daybrook, with no hot water and no bathroom I used to dream of having a big space to play in Now I am lucky enough to have two acres around my house - result!

Ay you're right !

We used to live in this tiiiny old house, with greaaaaat big holes in the roof,

.... but we were evicted and had to go and live in a lake.

You were lucky!

There were a hundred and sixty of us living in a small shoebox in the middle of the road.

Cardboard box ?

Luxury !

We were happier then when we were poor....

You try telling the young people of today that , and they won't believe ya.

Etc etc.
