  1. I would find it difficult to contemplate going anywhere apart from my immediate environs in the present health situation.

  2. Fending for myself, dog and two cats while Mrs PP is in Tenerife is proving quite enjoyable. Shopping in the market today - no plastic packaging. Big bunch of purple sprouting , 4 large conference pears, 2lb of washed spuds and a nice solid cabbage for a fiver. Could probably do slightly cheaper in the supermarket but for me supermarket shopping is soulless. Lunch in my fav market caff. Had to go to supermarket for a few delicacies but going to try and make my own to avoid the packaging. Penkridge market again tomorrow for a few things but mainly because I like open markets. I'll treat myself

  3. I had a visit from my Granddaughter this morning and it was as usual the best thing to happen all day. She went on her way and a while after she had gone, I went for a piece of fruit from the table. Look at this little secret message that I found. Call me soppy, but I love that banana. Can't possibly eat it ..........can I?

  4. I remember him. My dad worked at the newspaper office. The workers learned to use computers having had all the training and then that man pulled out of the carefully negotiated agreement. It all got very nasty going from strike to lock-out. The picketing became creative when those on strike produced a line of traffic that circled the building so the vans could not get in and out! I borrowed the book "Somebody had to do it" from the library. No way would I buy it! The book tells the whole story. When the computer was installed the compositors typed in the text to produce punched tape. My dad s

  5. Another well known person who was a regular on Woodbridge Ave was Neville King the ventriloquist. Late 50's early 60's he worked for Wigfalls, TV rentals. Every Saturday he would call to collect the TV rental. My mother used to like him, always called her "Mrs Woman" which she found amusing and have a chat. He often spoke of entertaining at parties and clubs. On his final call he did say that he was leaving and going full time entertaining. He eventually turned up on the Black and White Minstrel Show and other TV programmes with his Dummy "Old Boy". and often turned up on various entertain

  6. Throw away society. I have a Hayter lawnmower fitted with an electric motor. I bought it 25 years ago at my previous house where we had a big lawn but it is rather an overkill for my current lawn which is much smaller. However it’s built like a tank and in those 25 years has never missed a beat (except when I cut through the wire. Twice). I used it recently for the first time since it’s winter lay up and it started smoking. Investigation showed that there is a clever but simple pressed metal device that pushes on some brake shoe type material inside the motor that was rusted and very worn

  8. Americans have an almost laughable fear and hatred if anything Fox have told them is socialism and the commies are at the door. Patently rubbish in my view. Over here most take the view that big business are right wing more than those with left wing sympathies The examples you quote only serve to make my point. I don't know if they are left, right or center but once big business or government has control they can persuade you black is white any time they like.

  9. Thank you for your condolences. This is Bryan's wife. I was still able to get onto his account. I hope that's okay. Funny what you remember, huh? And what you forget? Bryan (Mudgie 49) fought a 15-year battle with Kidney Cancer that metastasized to other parts of his body (lung, intestine, spine, and brain). Unfortunately, it was the tumor in his lung that ended up taking his life. I was with him when he passed, and he did pass peacefully. And I am glad that his pain and struggle is over. The last 8-9 months had been especially tough, with the last five weeks the worst, as he lost weight, his
