    Cats !

nonnaB that’s awful. Thank goodness you are so caring. Send them to me or Jill, we’ll look after them.
  2. Jill, very odd happenings with my hog this week. Not been seen in the garden since last Sunday after weeks off rocking up for food every night but still around all week as have heard grunting noises from the border most days. Have put food out but not eaten by anything but slugs all week. Suddenly appeared tonight and had to put extra out. Do you think this is late mating? Mrs B

    Cats !

Siddha, hope she comes back soon, our little black and white one disappears for long stretches and it is worrying. She usually comes back with a mouse to say sorry. Jill, how lucky is Jessie to have found you for her mom. Happy times ahead watching those kittens.
  4. John Lewis in Nottingham are doing the Quality Street tins again this year where you choose your own. We save our empty tins year on year. All about the green triangles for me!

    Cats !

Well done to Jessie, Jill. Are you keeping the two kittens ? Guess if you’ve now got a male one she’ll be getting neutered otherwise he’ll be annoying the hell out of her As time goes on!
  6. I have only ever been to the Royal Albert Hall once and was very lucky to see Yehudi Menuhin. Many years ago but I think it was a trip organised by Nottingham Arts who I used to play cello with. The acoustics in that building are amazing.
  7. I used to play the cello, beautiful sounding instrument, loved it.
  8. Can anyone remember that disco boat that was by Trent Bridge that you could hire ? I think it eventually sank !
  9. Goodness Trogg (my smoking partner) , what a day you’ve all had! Hope your wife recovers ok. Thoughts are with you mate.
  10. The notes for Bohemian Rhapsody on the BM calendar notepad sold earlier for over 1 million. Hopefully Sir Michael Bishop bought it, that would be nice.
  11. Lizzie, my Saturday job wage at Boots on the corner of Friar Lane was about that much too. Travelling in and out on the bus from Cropwell Butler took some of that but still couldn’t afford the Paul Smith stuff either. Those trousers of yours sound great though.
  12. I see that our local lad has joined forces with Mulberry for a range of handbags. What a success story for him over the years after struggling with that small shop on Byard Lane. Still the sole owner of the business. The bags look great but don’t tell my daughter !
  13. I actually used to love doing lines in detention. The teacher was so bored with also having to stay behind that you could just write downwards the easy way 50x I, 50xmust! 50xpay, 50xmore and 50x attention.
  14. Bloomin heck Barrie, congrats to you both.
  15. nonna the difference in language eh! I can remember working with some Americans trying to install a computer system that actually was never going to work for us and I said to this guy “Keep your pecker up” He said “I don’t believe you just said that” as it means something totally different Stateside.
  16. I used to work with someone who told us once that a pregnant lady had gone to hospital to be “seduced”. He obviously meant “induced” but it was very funny at the time.
  17. Glad you are safe Loppy, we were on Anna Maria island last year and had to mandatory evacuate before hurricane Ian arrived. Unlike this year there was a weather front below the panhandle which stopped it going up the Gulf so it went straight across the state. We ended up in Orlando still with severe winds but obviously no storm surge. I’ve never known wind like it. Us smokers were hanging on to the pillars in front of the hotel. LOL.
  18. Jill, Harold this years hog is still here every night and getting bigger. Now the nights are drawing in am having to put food out earlier otherwise he’s wandering about the patio with his “where is my food” look on his face!
  19. My godmother used to live at Sutton on Sea and prior to that the old station house at Mumby. I spent a lot of my summer holidays there in my teens. Even now I can remember her husband, my Uncle, every time you passed anywhere near him used to lean towards me wanting to be a letch. I even discussed it with my cousin who was a bit younger than me and she said the same thing. It used to freak me out.
  20. I love them too, must be the McDonald in me!
  21. My cats don’t seem bothered but I do tend to wait until I know that the hog is about so he gets there first. Glad I’m doing the right thing with putting more down. He seems to like the mixed grill combo with the slugs on. I’m cake testing this afternoon for a local gardening group. What joy!
  22. Doubt it my friend, nice thought though. Are you having to take the Alka Seltzer because you’re having too much red wine LOL
  23. Jill, how much dried catfood do you put out for your hedgehogs ? I’m finding that I have to keep topping it up and also slugs arrive on the plate when they’re not there (so extra food for them) Don’t want to over feed them although they are drinking the water too.
  24. Phil that’s awful. My dishwasher is all plugged in and just finished.
  25. When I left school my first job was at Luton, then 6 months in Bristol and back to Notts after. For some reason when I go to the States everyone seems to think I’m Australian ! Must be a mix up of lingo on my part.
