  1. Glad you are safe Loppy, we were on Anna Maria island last year and had to mandatory evacuate before hurricane Ian arrived. Unlike this year there was a weather front below the panhandle which stopped it going up the Gulf so it went straight across the state. We ended up in Orlando still with severe winds but obviously no storm surge. I’ve never known wind like it. Us smokers were hanging on to the pillars in front of the hotel. LOL.
  2. Jill, Harold this years hog is still here every night and getting bigger. Now the nights are drawing in am having to put food out earlier otherwise he’s wandering about the patio with his “where is my food” look on his face!
  3. My godmother used to live at Sutton on Sea and prior to that the old station house at Mumby. I spent a lot of my summer holidays there in my teens. Even now I can remember her husband, my Uncle, every time you passed anywhere near him used to lean towards me wanting to be a letch. I even discussed it with my cousin who was a bit younger than me and she said the same thing. It used to freak me out.
  4. I love them too, must be the McDonald in me!
  5. My cats don’t seem bothered but I do tend to wait until I know that the hog is about so he gets there first. Glad I’m doing the right thing with putting more down. He seems to like the mixed grill combo with the slugs on. I’m cake testing this afternoon for a local gardening group. What joy!
  6. Doubt it my friend, nice thought though. Are you having to take the Alka Seltzer because you’re having too much red wine LOL
  7. Jill, how much dried catfood do you put out for your hedgehogs ? I’m finding that I have to keep topping it up and also slugs arrive on the plate when they’re not there (so extra food for them) Don’t want to over feed them although they are drinking the water too.
  8. Phil that’s awful. My dishwasher is all plugged in and just finished.
  9. When I left school my first job was at Luton, then 6 months in Bristol and back to Notts after. For some reason when I go to the States everyone seems to think I’m Australian ! Must be a mix up of lingo on my part.
  10. Jill, my little one is still arriving every night for its dried catfood and separate water dish between 9.30 and 10. No sign of the momma for a while but glad we’re fattening up the little un. Harold to us.
  11. She is a really good writer to the extent that you feel that you are living in the time. Love her books Nonna
  12. Talking of music and especially of interest to you Cliffton as an ex British Midland guy look what’s up on auction shortly for up to £1.2 million, the initial draft of Bohemian Rhapsody in 1974 on a British Midland calendar notepad. I can remember using those notepads when I joined in 1974 in crewing. Presume Freddie was travelling on Midland and asked for some paper! Not sure if this link will work. https://www.sothebys.com/buy/a18d3c0f-2d23-4f78-be25-5f3ca136b3be/lots/e0386a1d-3c18-4b8e-a920-a614e5212519
  13. I was a surrogate grandma about 6years ago but the family moved down to Guildford so that was the last of that. Shame, I miss it. I used to run a kids gardening group at the Uni for home ed kids and really enjoyed that too. We’re a talent that is not being used that’s for sure. I knew about your boys but surely there must be a need out there for adoptive grandparents? Would save a lot of nursery fees for folks but also guessing there would be a lot of associate health and safety checks.
  14. Jill, this is exactly what I do! Not on post it notes though, on a jotter pad, it’s called being organised. Think it is a bit of a woman’s trait though.
  15. Barrie, there would be no offence taken if you posted it. It’s actually quite comforting to watch as apart from his e mails I have nothing else that’s tangible. I often watch it before I go to bed at night. He had the most amazing sense of humour, was extremely flamboyant and loud. Once you met him you never would have forgotten him. I wish I had something similar to remember my other brother Jim who unfortunately died at age 60. There were two years between them and they were both Mellish boys. So… I am now the elderly McDonald matriarch with lots of nieces and nephews. No grandchildren from
  16. My brother Mike McDonald had probably the best “O gauge “ model railway in the country at the back of the cafe at Mablethorpe funfair complimented with amazing buildings from modeller Allan Downes. It was also displayed at Ruddington before that. If you Google “Monks Bay” you can see his video on u tube. This was his passion and I can remember him writing an article for the Railway Modeller about the fact that his railways were always his consistency in life. Having had 3 wives and numerous partners and being his little sis I can appreciate that. It all stemmed from my dad being a model railwa
  17. Whoop whoop Lizzie do they look very glam?
  18. There used to be an option to have Basil Fawlty as the voice. Hilarious and would certainly brighten up the journey.
  19. Old Spice and Johnson’s baby powder always remind me of my ex husband so not memorable. My favourite for me is Paul Smith Women (nothing like supporting the local lad ) I don’t wear much perfume as I am always outside with my allotment and “Bloom” assessing and it attracts too many insects but nice for when I’m not doing that.
  20. Very sad world Lizzie, how’s hubby?
  21. I have an American Satnav, only because my husband hurled ours into the back seat of the car when we were in the States many years ago in frustration on a 6 lane freeway in LA. Of course we then had to buy a new one! Interesting for anyone else who is now a passenger in my car though and it works perfectly fine just has an American voice. I wouldn’t be without it, considering I worked for an airline for 30+ years my sense of direction is appalling.
  22. They managed to make it rain after Chernobyl over guess where Ukraine, before the impact of it got to Moscow so anything is possible.
