  1. Also known as "The Big House". I believe Carter Gate was the formewr name of that stretch of Parliament Street.
  2. Out the front door in to Woodthorpe Grange Park.
  3. Ours is called a 'retirement village'. Situated next to a lovely park.
  4. We moved in to a similar place last Sept & only regret we did not do it years ago. Love it.
  5. Sheltered housing, me too, can't beat it.
  6. I believe the Nottingham Children's Home on Roseberry Avenue was the only children's home in Skegness at the time. Don't knock yourself out over it Patrick the place is no more now a LCC place for kids to meet estranged parents of sorts. Roseberry House is just a vague distant memory to many of us & best left there. Look to the future.
  7. I wish I could but Photo bucket has swallowed my hosted photographs sadly. But no worries I will be on holiday in Skeg in a couple of weeks & will go & take some more photographs. When you were there the home was amalgamet with the girls home & I think the holiday period was reduced from 3 to 2 weeks duration. I went there in the late 50s early 60s.
  8. It sounds exactly like Roseberry House. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.1346823,0.3395836,3a,75y,336.71h,92.98t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sEnT5oUo_qGVVfSlvo3NPGQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en Up to date streetview picture.
  9. Mary 1947 Mary please read my post again, I never suggested scrapping Pension Credit. I did suggest PC could be a yardstick for free TV licenses as PC is a means tested benefit.I suggested an added benefit for PC recipients.
  10. People claiming Pension Credit (Means Tested) would be a good start. Myself NOT included in that.
  11. Boris has mentioned decriminalising the offence of not having a TV license. Those who can afford to pay should pay. The poor should get free TV licenses.
  12. My TV license cost me £7.50 pa. Still a load of rubbish on the box tho. https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/faqs/FAQ78
  13. What ever happened to FLY2 ? Been absent awhile, not been in the silly word games either.
  14. Interestingly my mates family lived next door to her at 112 Bobbers Mill Road !
  15. That old depot was delapidated 40 years ago. Knew a Bartons fitter who worked there. In fact he worked for Barton buses all his working life. Still very active at 92 years of age.
  16. Chatting to a driver on a biogas bus the other day reckons with a few passngers on board the the bus wouldn't pull you out of bed.
  17. No reversing was permitted by NCT when routes changed to OMO. Many routes had to be modified to accomadate rhis ruling. I knew the 22 route very well having done many a shift on 1,7 & 22 when they ran from Bulwell & later Bilborough depots. The present service 79 basically covers all those 3 routes combined in to one route these days.
  18. Partly, no protection when you hit a M'way bridge !!
