  1. Local politician makes national headlines. Robert Jenrick, Conservative MP for Newark, has resigned from the Government over the Rwandan situation. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-67640833
  2. It's a pretty impressive place. Words like 'Light' and 'Airy' spring to mind. Absolutely none of your stuffy, dark corners in old buildings. And more computers and other tech than in several branches of Currys.
  3. I think my footprint is fairly low/small. One car, which is 1.3 petrol. Not much long-distance travel by any other means. One average-sized property. And I’m not a Bitcoin Miner.
  4. You can get to this from the link in the previous post. https://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/media/xdtgcxeb/48_20_cllr-ward-poster-a3-portrait-2023_hr.pdf
  5. This subject has always fascinated me because I'd never heard of it until I joined Nottstalgia; but it seems I must be one of very few Nottingham people who didn't know about Christmas pork pies. There's even an old thread on the subject. https://nottstalgia.com/forums/topic/5103-xmas-pork-pie-breakfast/?tab=comments#comment-59446
  6. Yes, I used to go with my dad to the Stock Car Racing in the late 1960s. https://nottstalgia.com/forums/topic/1302-long-eaton-stadium-stock-cars-and-speedway/?tab=comments#comment-10272
  7. Looks like the actual building has gone. Sign of the times it's been replaced by a vape shop. https://maps.app.goo.gl/sc1wCe1MdPzsY7R97
  8. Have you been fiddling around in Postimage ? (or whatever you use).
  9. Ben, your Sneinton photo from Monday seems to have disappeared.
  10. Certainly has round here. I'm looking out of the window watching lumps of snow dropping off cars.
  11. Despite the weather this morning, postmen are still wearing big shorts.
  12. There aren't any other threads covering this subject, so I reckon this can continue. I've slightly modified the title to reflect the new situation.
  13. It's that strange phenomena - a really nice, original house in excellent condition, but in an area populated by all manner of dubious people. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/86664183#/?channel=RES_BUY
  14. Despite this milestone, I suspect you're still one of the youngest people on Nottstalgia.
  15. And you can also go on guided tours. I'm booked on one next week.
  16. Oztalgian hasn't logged in since the above post on 13th. We're missing a few match reports. Hopefully he's still ok.
  17. When I first saw the photo I honestly thought they were all staff.
  18. You can tell that's a fairly recent photo.........Amazon vans everywhere these days.
  19. That's prompted me to check, and mine has also appeared since the last time I looked at my bank statement.
  20. The library on Nuthall Road (near the Commodore) is still there and still a library. https://maps.app.goo.gl/KztWtUq1sN74zvhBA If you spin the view around, you'll see the Commodore has changed a bit.
  21. Not before time, the new Central Library finally opens next week, in amongst the ruins of the Broad Marsh Centre. https://westbridgfordwire.com/nottingham-central-library-opens-next-week/
  22. It was right at the top end. Devon Street (among others) is still there today to give a reference.
  23. In practical terms my musical history was fairly minimal. I could play keyboards with some success; I could sight read to a reasonable degree. I had some lessons from a music teacher at Fairham Comp....and I even had a few lessons on a proper church organ, where I almost mastered playing pedals with my feet as well as the two keyboards.
  24. Musically I’ve gone full circle. When I was young, my dad had a collection of classical/light music LPs which I used to play. That was my musical background and training, and as I got older I developed my own taste in all kinds of modern rock/progressive/alternative/etc etc. Now in recent years I’ve stopped paying attention to most ‘modern’ music and gone back to the classical things (+ more) which I knew in my young days. But I still can’t stand classical singing/operatic arias etc, where the soloist - male or female - screeches and bawls in an incomprehens
  25. Nice of you to drop in TNisT. It's always interesting to find someone who can provide information and fill in gaps in knowledge. Out of curiosity, how did you come to find Nottstalgia and this link to Boon ?
