  1. You may or may not know that before they both became better known, Connelly and Rafferty were in a group called The Humblebums.
  2. I was in The Range today and they had a number of Wilko-branded items on sale in various sections. Maybe they're just getting rid of old stock, but it was a surprise to see the name on display.
  3. This is the site of the Locarno/Victoria now - Student accommodation. The Generating Station on the left has survived.
  4. If it's you, why were you in a hanging basket with strangers ?
  5. This is an interesting variation on the theme. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-67777814
  6. I'll bet quite a few of the Nottstalgia attendees are older than many of the people in that photo !
  7. 5-10 years ago there seemed to be a lot more wandering scrap collectors driving around in battered lorries; they've become a disappearing breed in recent times. For example, Currys charge £25 to take away your old fridge/washing machine.
  8. It's been mentioned in several old threads....including this one - https://nottstalgia.com/forums/topic/11443-old-broadmarsh-bus-station/?tab=comments#comment-185743
  9. The Tower in Broad Marsh. https://picturenottingham.co.uk/image-library/image-details/poster/NTGM017282/posterid/NTGM017282.html
  10. Nearly. You walked down Lister Gate and turned left past C & A into Broad Marsh.
  11. There was a cafe, which is the long white building in the centre of this photo.
  12. I walked up and down Drury Hill many times when I was a kid. It was one of the several possible exit routes out of Broad Marsh bus station.
  13. Same here; around 11.30 the rain against the windows was like someone aiming a very powerful hosepipe. I don't think I've ever heard/seen such an intense downpour, even if it was only for a few minutes.
  14. Nobody saw this one coming. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67757165
  15. Maybe we could start a new thread titled 'Brief Encounters I have known' but I suspect it would be monopolised by Ben and no-one else would be able to get a word in.
  16. Nice to see you still looking in carni ! A real blast from the past
  17. In the car this afternoon, the outside temperature gauge on the dashboard was saying 15c.
  18. I remember that. Memories of the Light Programme in the early 60s.
  19. Several websites today have mentioned a feature which was visible in the sky yesterday evening. I took this looking out of the window. Apparently they're known as Nacreous/Rainbow Clouds and are quite rare.
  20. Looks like it will be ok for a long time. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=jam+use+by+date
  21. I always think that as well. I don't mind the colder days this time of the year, but I hate the early darkness.
  22. I only ever went to a few Forest matches in the mid-60s, and it's interesting to see the players who were in the team in those days. And it's almost comical to see that Frank Wignall was signed in 1963 for £20,000. There are players now who earn that in a few minutes.
  23. I've increasingly found that happening to me in recent years.
  24. According to a Portugese newspaper....... https://www.abola.pt/futebol/noticias/nuno-espirito-santo-perto-do-nottingham-forest-2023121819244660199
