  1. Birdseye crispy battered cod fillet, didn't offer the fish fingers after the fuss she made over the cod fillet Rog
  2. Back to a hospital today with Mrs P again, this time badly bruised foot, doing some stepping exercisers and fell off the step, resulting in black and blue bruise across her right foot, so went to Newark hospital to get it checked out, no fractures so back home, she said she has to elevate her leg and put ice cubes on the bruise, well I put a cushion under her foot on a small chair and that raised it enough, didn't have any ice cubes so I handed her a "frozen Birdseye battered cod fillet" not impressed she just called me stupid, no helping some people is there? anyway next lot of eye drops read
  3. You hear right Phil, locals call it little Poland but I think very few Polish live there, mainly other eastern Europeans but they don't seem to want to integrate with locals preferring to stay with their own countrymen/women, Hykeham rail station is free to park and a few minutes train ride into the city is a lot cheaper than paying carpark fee of seven quid for four hours in Lincoln Rog
  4. Be careful when parking near the Next shop on Tritton road Phil, the free car park runs into a pay to park car park with little or no markings/signs to the effect, lots of people been parking there thinking it's part of the Next shop car park and finding a parking ticket on the windscreen when they get back to their car with an eighty quid fine attached Rog
  5. I thought at one time you could sign in as "Guest" or am I thinking of another site Rog
  6. Bloody hell BK the earth is on fire, hope everyone gets away safe Rog
  7. Being able to park free is a big plus Phil, Imagine going to Lincoln city for a quick nip into a shop to buy a pair of shoes/trousers/shirt etc it's going to cost you another 3 or 4 quid to park your car because you're going to allow yourself another hour just in case you run out of car parking time, if you do run out of the allotted time and you get caught it's another eighty quid, makes sense to use out of town retail parks with free parking but with the local councils setting high rents and rates for in town shops it's no wonder shops are moving out Rog
  8. Nowt wrong with charity shops Ben but when they charge the same price as high street shops for goods they have been given them it is a bit much, last year when I was in Edinburgh I got a rather nice waistcoat for seven quid, when I showed it to the assistant in a charity shop in Newark she told me she would have charged thirty quid for that sort of quality, I find charity shops in major city's to be much cheaper than the smaller town ones, just my observations of course Rog
  9. I have a Rose all of my very own, Mrs Rose Mary Plantfit Rog
  10. Just the same in Newark Jill, mobile phone repair shops, cafes, nail bars, mobile phone shops and charity shops that seem to charge more for their goods than the original shops they came from, in fact nothing there that interests me Rog
  11. Wouldn't expect any less a comment from you Barrie In saying that we should look after our wildlife after all they've suffered enough at the hands of humankind Rog
  12. Hedgehogs eat slugs, part of their diet in the wild Rog
  13. Sams lived in a house at the side of the East Coast Mainline and can be seen from the A1 just North of Cromwell Rog
  14. I'm with you on that one Ben Rog
  15. everything is getting smaller but the prices remain the same or higher, the food company's think they are doing you a favour by keeping prices down but in effect they are reducing the size of the goods, just another way of ripping the customer off Rog
  16. Interesting, a mix of accents that somehow come together and you picked up on it, I bet no one else would Ben, bet the chap was surprised when you came out with that little gem Rog
  17. A lovely morning in Newark, good market on and some friendly folk about and lovely weather, shame a lot of the shops are closing down though soon be nothing left but mobile phone repairs, mobile phone shops, cafes, charity shops (very overpriced) and nail bars (six of), Rog
  18. Thats the conclusion I came to as well, same amount of chain wrapped around the chainwheel, It's a bit hard to explain but it does feel easier to pedal with an oval chainring helping to get over the "dead area" as it's called in the bicycling science book, thanks for the input Engineer good to have my thoughts confirmed Rog
  19. Something to do with the motor ratings or sommat, I don't really know but you see quite a few speeding around Newark with no helmet and no regard for pedestrians Rog
  20. I saw one of those this morning when we were going to the asda, looked a bit dangerous to me speeding across a junction, thing is Barrie when there's one coming towards you it looks like a bicycle so you react to such but in reality it's going like the clappers so could well catch you off guard coming up on you a lot quicker than a bicycle plus the guy I saw wasn't wearing a crash helmet (not sure about the law on that) so you wouldn't think it was a powered bike, personally at the moment and with my health being reasonable I wouldn't have one but each to his own Rog
  21. Brilliant writeup Jill, reading it I was almost there walking around the streets and buildings of Bulwell Rog
  22. Hope you get it sorted very soon trogg Rog
  23. Nice one Ben, what a lovely post mate Rog
  24. Perfect weather for a bike ride this morning, local lanes about 15-17 miles, enjoyed the scenery over the flat lands in the peoples republic of Lincolnshire, a few pics of the ride Discs and rollers, a bit too heavy to pull with the Diamondback even with the new chainwheel Upper Witham, Scotwater bridge Not the Notts one but the Lincs one Upper Witham again this time overlooking Beckingham ranges Rog
