  1. Have you seen the movie 'Something's Gotta Give' starring Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton then Catfan? If not you should, they email each other from different rooms, but you're possibly not into RomComs!!
  2. Sorry to hear of your plight Darkazana, 4 break-ins in a year must be very distressing for your dear old Mum. I know my Dad could not have coped with such trauma. He never locked his door until he went to bed, even in winter when it got dark at about 4pm. I eventually persuaded him to keep the doors locked at all times and we had to use a key to get in. He was housebound and could only move about with a Zimmer frame, if someone got into his house he could have done nothing at all about it. He had a buzzer thing round his neck but never ever used it, I think he was frightened to. These dreadf
  3. My son has flown to Sochi today ........ I don't think it will take him very long to learn "Morshna balshoy peeva pajalsta" !!
  4. Thanks Eric, you're brilliant! All sorted so there's no stopping me now!
  5. No BR, it's a nice day for the end of September, not Goose Fair weather at all !! Must admit though that I've put the central heating on to air the house out a bit.
  6. Thanks for the 'welcome back' Carni, I can't even give you a LIKE for the comment the way my Nottstalgia has gone! We've been in South of France on the Midi Canal. Rented a boat and cruised along the canal for a week, going through 66 locks which were all automated thank goodness, otherwise I'd have arms like Popeye now.
  7. Can one of the Admin. people sort out my Nottstalgia website. I've been away for a couple of weeks and have somehow messed it all up trying to get on for my daily fix using my iPhone, but it's the same on iPad and having just got home I find the same problem on the desktop computer. I have everything in blue and black instead of having our dear Robin and the Castle at the top of the front page. This happened before and Limey sorted it out quickly. Hope someone can get me back to what I can deal with again as I'm getting severe withdrawal symptoms. Thanks in anticipation!!
  8. Bryan, so pleased to see you posting again. We were thinking about you last week and delighted that all went well for you.
  9. Wonderful! Especially as my husband has always supported Fulham (being a Southerner). Well done you Reds!!!
  10. Welcome to Nottstalgia Criseliz, I'm sure they will be interest in your book from other Nottstalgians.
  11. Carni, I have had the same problem for the past two months. The last 'like' showing on my list is from you on 11th July and I've had lots since then, lucky aren't I ?!!! I can see them by doing what Cliff Ton suggested but don't know why the little thingy doesn't show up red. The envelope icon goes red when I have a PM though. Summat's up we it but suppose it's not a big problem really.
  12. I was away from Nottingham for 30 years Stu and during that period a lot changed in Arnold and all around the area, and not for the better either. I don't recall 'The Canny Scot', that must have been while I was in exile. Even when I lived in Arnold I spent little time on Front Street/High Street so my memories of the 50s, 60s and early 70s are not that vivid.
  13. Paul Kreger had a ladies fashion shop on that stretch between Woolworths and Worrall Avenue too. The butchers you recall is probably Rowbottoms, which is still there, next to the Cross Keys. I used to know the daughter, Joy. In fact went on holiday to Majorca with her and a load more people, they were the water-skiing crowd from down Gunthorpe/Hoveringham/Holme Pierrepont. It was the first time I'd flown and I sat next to her on the plane, really excited at the prospect of the flight. Joy was telling me I'd be absolutely fine and not to worry ....... I wasn't worried in the slightest! Soon
  14. There was a fishmonger Compo. I remember the son, he was a blonde lad and drove a BMW ........ can't imagine why I remember him!!
  15. Carni, that's a lovely story, congratulations to them both. She really pushed the boat out with 11 bridesmaids!!!
  16. Do watch old comedy shows if I happen to fall upon them but don't look at the TV guide and to be honest I don't watch a lot of TV ....... .I listen to it but look at Nottstalgia on my iPad screen. My all time favourite is Porridge but it would never be the same without Ronnie Barker and Richard Beckinsale.
  17. Had to go to the Station so missed the last 10 minutes on the telly but had to make do with Radio Nottm commentary. Couldn't believe how many police were down in that area, had to do a detour to get anywhere near the car park as they'd blocked Queens Road off from London Road. Plenty of overtime for the boys in blue because you can't trust those Derby fans!! Pity we couldn't take 3 points but lots of games to go.
  18. Thanks CliffTon, will try that later.
  19. How's that happen? I don't get email notification of a PM !
  20. Few others too Katy! Trouble is I can't get to sleep when I've been on these 'thinking' threads!!
  21. I'm keeping quiet this time! Just tell me where and when and I'll be there, so long as it's not this month.
  22. November is the Birthday month apparently but it would be a shame for Banjo to travel half way across the World and not to meet any of his 'cyber friends'
  23. It'd be nice to arrange something early October when Banjo is over from Oz. Don't ask me to organise it, the last one stretched me too much! I agree with Malcolm though, Jos Else was pretty grim.
  24. Well St Augustine's Catholic Church is still there on Woodborough Road Carni and I think it's at the corner of Westville Gardens (?). Probably wasn't called that in those days though. It's opposite Cranmer Street.
  25. That's it ....... I want a metal detector for Christmas!!
