  1. Not heard of Pork pie breakfast before. A mate of mine the other day mentioned something being on the Dog shelf, apparently the Dog shelf is the floor, he reckons it's a well known Nottm saying.
  2. Hi Ube these Chinese lanterns are popular at weddings, there was a wedding reception at Bestwood Lodge this afternoon, could be from there.

  5. Hi Bazzer, i know a chap called Monty Traynor who was born in Scotland and lived in Bulwell for many years, he would be early sixties now. Don't know if Monty is a nickname or not. Den.

  8. On the subject of kids names, 3 men were waiting outside a school for their kids. The first one said here comes my son George, we called him that because he was born on St Georges day. The second one said here comes Andrew he was born on St Andrews day. The third one said here comes my son Pancake. !laughing!
  9. I had a Vauxhall Victor possibly an fb, built in 1964. It had a 3 speed column change and a bench seat. Scrapped it, it was rotten it wasn't even 10 years old. It cost me £20 from a dealer in Daybrook where Frank Key is now.
  10. The other end, the old track ran parallel to Arnold lane and disappears underground about 300 metres south of Mapperley plains, it is hidden by trees but you can see it on maps.
  11. There was another Cafe on Piccadilly in Bulwell run by the Donze? family, they had 2 daughters Jenny and Jackie. Anyone remember this it was opposite the Piccadilly club.
  12. I can remember going to the Bingo hall at the bottom of St Annes well Rd in the seventies, the place was so busy we had to go into an annexe which was the Empress.

  14. Picture 2 is the old Home Ales brewery at Daybrook. The old Players social club on Aspley lane is now a sports/gym/leisure centre.
  15. The Carlton on Foxhiil/Valley road is tinned up. I used to go there Sunday lunch when Fred Reacher ran it. They used to have some good Disco's in there in the seventies.
  16. Ayup Den, a new Comet store is opening at Castle Meadows and they are doing Tom Toms at £75. It is advertised on page 13 of Thursdays NEP.
  17. My missus could spend that easy. Last year for her birthday she wanted to go somewhere expensive, so i took her to a petrol station. !laughing!
