I really hate the Winter now,its as ive got older and blood thinner,also admit to a bit of the S.A.D. syndrome,especilly when i 'm up at 4am,.........always try to get away for some Sun in the Winter its such a Tonic.........years ago i loved the Winter,......it made people dress proper as well.....lol.........nowadays first bit of Sun no matter what time of year,blokes are poncing about in Shorts and exposing Feet...........i'd prosecute em.......lol.

Like you Annesleyred........i can only remember one number plate well half of it anyway,had a grey mini van in the 60s,and the letters were BBC cant recall any of the very many others including my present one......neither could i recite my tel.phone number,E-Mail,Post code,even get my house number wrong on occasions,and it always amazes me that some people know their National insurance number.......

Agee Michael.......it would be nice to know why people suddenly stop posting,and that they are ok,......just as interesting to me is why do people join in the first place?.......mine was a combination of Retirement,Boredom,Illness and curiosity........have since come out of retirement,hopefully not ill anymore,but i'm still curious and suffer from boredom...........be interesting to know why oothers joined ?

When my beloved first came to Nottingham to live with me in 85' (from the deep south) the 'Standard' was one of the first Pubs I took her in, others being 'Golden Ball',Shoulder of Mutton (what was),Heathfield,Park Tavern,Pear Tree and Vernon Arms,.............the pubs and people left her in shock (knocked her bandy dint they)............lol................anyway all these years later,she loves Nottingham and its people,.....and evens says 'Ey up Duck' now...........

  11. #1 What a lovely building the 'Standard' was,buit of 'Bulwell stone',and if anyone recalls the rear of the place was circular,......large car park with never any cars in the 50s,where I too Valuer Jim' sat on the wall with my Pop and crisps,when I wasn't hurtling round it on my green three wheeler,waiting for either one of my Grandads,Dad or Uncles to bring me a refill,............
  12. We nearly crossed paths then today Margie............spent the night in Peterborough........and travelled back the pretty way through Northants and Leicestershire. Stopping at the 'Country Lounge Café Bar' in Morcott...........for a lovely Breakfeast.

  14. #10 Same here Ian,.........I obviously knew most of em,but also knew how far to take my 'Banter'.........and yes it was a good boozer in the 50's all the family used it,lots of music with the Piano and all enjoying the sing alongs.............but by about 2,000 the sound of singing had long gone,......except the odd 'Canary' ..lol.
  15. Think i gave the Wife a good Valentines this year................she woke up 70 miles from Nottingham her car covered in snow........feeling really good,after all the Wining and Dining......................think i'll go with her next year................lol.

  21. Anyway a dozen Red Roses for a fiver,in Tesco Bulwell,..........they were selling like Hot cakes..........there will be some Happy ladies in Bulwell tomorrow.
  22. we soon found out why they paid Ian............Same in Glasgow,i volunteered to do a job up there........Easterhouse and Renfrew......i loved the peolple up there but it was a bit scary (to say the least)......especially when they realised you were English,.......but i also loved their sense of humour........would'nt have missed the experience for the World...........

Jeff sold up about 4 years ago,still see him about in Bulwell cant really miss him always wears a Cowboy hat,just before he sold he was robbed and assaulted in the shop...........I think Kens Autos is where Smedleys Cobblers was,round the corner the Chippys still there,then the Car Dealers,bought my last car there, Glad you like the Crombie,£20 in Manchester few years ago.......lol
