Premium Bonds are paying out more while interest rates are high. When they drop, so will the prizes. Meanwhile, we’re very happy with our returns.
i dont see it as gambling (which I don’t do) as you never lose your original ‘stake’.

@Brew sorry you seem to be having some health issues. I hope they'll be sorted soon. I know all about those eye tests …… I’m a regular at the eye clinic. We also have a ‘Peak flow’ monitor to use at home which measures how quickly you can breathe out. Our scores aren’t too good and we’ve both been sent for CT scans but the results seem OK for our age.
Sending lots of good wishes to you ……. x

That might be the answer BK but to be honest I can’t really be bothered! I have no photos I want to share anymore - nothing anyone else would be interested in anyway.
I read all the posts on NS (except the word games) but rarely post anything as I feel I’ve exhausted all my memories - at least all those that I would want to share!!!
And I don’t want to keep endlessly repeating things……
I am very content with my life and will continue to enjoy reading all the threads (even though I don’t necessarily agree with - or relate to -everything I read….. ). But that’s just the same for everyone else isn’t it.
Thankyou BK for your advice x- 6

You are correct BK but last time I tried, it seemed to have changed so I didn’t bother.

I think it’s more difficult posting pictures on here than on fb or messenger. I used to be able to do it but not any more.

My mum always used to sprinkle a little sugar on sliced tomatoes, add a little pepper on strawberries and always had sliced cucumber in vinegar.

Col, maybe God is letting you know in many different ways tnat you should employ a plumber/bathroom fitter for the job?
I am not joking x -
@The Engineer Just read the article about the clock - very interesting…
When I first saw the clock i was very young and believed it was driven by the water - like a water wheel - but after I’d left Nottingham around 1960, and later visited it, I studied it more closely and decided it must have a motor.
well done for maintaining it so well -
You must be clever, Col, fitting the flooring round the loo and washbasin …..

I asked the same question 10 days ago, Jill. Does @plantfit know if he’s OK as I think they have actually met face to face !

Brew, I did something similar about 20 years ago when I was still working. I always cut my own hair and this particular time I was using the electric clippers on the lower back part of my head. I had attached a number 6 ,guard’ on the clippers, at least I THOUGHT I’d attached it securely but it came off without warning and dropped on the floor. I obviously stopped straightaway but there was now a small shaved area on the back of my head. I used an eyebrow pencil to colour on to my scalp - I was dark haired then - and luckily I had enough hair on the top and sides to back comb over the bare patch which I heavily sprayed to hold it in place. It worked and o was able to go to work without any schoolkids saying “what’s happened to your hair, miss?” I showed it to the people I worked with and they just fell about laughing. After about a week it was barely noticeable but I’ve been extra careful ever since!

I remember all those songs too, but the ones which produced the most vivid memories were the ones pre 1962. I associated each of these early songs with different places and people and I feel so sad that those days are gone forever and many of the lads and lasses I used to go round with will quite possibly no longer be here…..

Phil seems to have disappeared too, or have I missed some posts?

@Oztalgian no offence taken. Hope you’ll have a happy Easter time x

Assuming there is/was a JC and he was born on December 25th why is there not a set date for his crucifixion/death instead of the date wandering around between late March and late April.
Answers in plain English please.
Easter Sunday is the first Sunday following the first full moon after the spring equinox.
Probably Christmas Day is a fixed date because it replaced a pagan festival. No one knows exactly on which date Jesus was born or was crucified. The calendar at that time would have been the ancient Hebrew one anyway, not tne calendar we have now. The Feasts and Festivals of Judaism would have been decided on by the moon’s cycle. We do know that Jesus was crucified during the Jewish Passover Festival though.
Personally, it doesn’t concern me that the exact dates aren’t known - I’m just grateful that they happened! (Yes, even the crucifixion because Christians believe it didn’t end there….. that’s what we celebrate on Easter Sunday.i hope that all makes sense x

I enjoyed reading your account, Col. Climbing hills and surveying the view from the top is always quite a spiritual experience for me. I’ve frequently been moved to tears when I’ve climbed some hills in Derbyshire in the past. I particularly remember this In Castleton one beautiful day when all the family had gone into Treak Cliff Cavern and I climbed higher with the dog. Just sitting on the grass looking over the village was very special…

@philmayfield None of us is the same as we were - in our case 70
years ago. But I can still relate to the little 11 year old ME sometimes. She is still part of who I am now x

He’s definitely real’. We were in the same class at school and were both sweet and innocent little children. I can remember him very clearly ……
he must have somehow made an impression on me as I can’t remember all the children in our class

I know there’s at least one other person on NS who went to ArnoVale - but they are quite a bit younger than me. I think I’ll just keep the interior of the school in my mind as I remember it….
i think Phil is making excuses as he doesn’t want to see me, or perhaps he doesn't want me to see him?
I don’t mind @philmayfield perhaps it’s better just to remember the sweet little children we once were

I’d love to look inside Arno Vale to see how much has changed. I expect they’ll have the toilets inside tne building now!
I did go inside the school briefly in 1976 when our children attended there for 6 weeks (we were staying with my parents as we were ‘between’ houses)
it did look brighter than I remember and the headmistress was Miss Lee who used to teach the second infants class.
She obviously didn’t remember me - well it was 27 years since I was in her class - but I remembered her as she was very nice and wore a red jumper which I liked!

@benjamin1945 it’s never too late if you really want it to happen!
Well, dancing in tne moonlight is certainly possible…..
Perhaps someone could arrange an evening meet up when there’s a full moon

@mary1947 I remember those floods. Some friends of my parents had a house in Chapel St Leonard’s and the water came around 3 feet up their walls. We weren’t there at the time but the next time we went to visit them, they showed us the watermark on the internal walls

Thank you Mary x

BK. No I didn’t because I’d already had too much food during the day including a strawberry cream tea at lunchtime!
How's your day?

@Beekay I know that no official interest is paid but we do
get prizes most months, sometimes really good ones, and it’s better than stuffing notes under your mattress
