  1. You learn summat everyday. I didn't realise that a certain German supermarket chain was named after the plural of lido.
  2. Must be a bugger for you reading most of the recent posts on here then Beekay
  3. A DAF variomatic is probably faster than the current Williams F1
  4. The wide variety of accents, is all part of the rich tapestry of this green and pleasant land.
  5. Always liked the sound of his own voice.

  7. Try telling the inhabitants of Chernobyl that.
  8. I'd still rather have unsightly wind farms than a bloody great nuclear power station with all their inherent risks.
  9. Beekay, when you started at Bilborough in 1962 the GM would have been Ben England, he was replaced by John Wake in 1963. The Chief Engineer was John Lowrie. It is good to hear that Dereck Deakin is still alive and kicking. Jill, Beekay is correct South Notts never ran the 53, it was purely an NCT service.

  15. We always used to get fish and chips there when County were playing at home. As Dad was a driver at Trent Bridge we could leave his car there and walk to Meadow Lane after having a good feed.
  16. Sorry BK, I don't know, we were holidaying in a caravan park on the coast just north of Hartlepool, and we took the kids to Beamish for a day out.
  17. Looks like Beamish. If so I can thoroughly recommend a visit.
  18. Back in the 70s, there used to be an excellent chippy opposite Trent Bridge Depot. Is it still there?
  19. Totongirl, there were no large mirrors on the lowbridge Atlanteans 395-400, as they were confined to the Clifton services via Trent Bridge which were conductor operated, so reversing was always done under guidance from the conductor. I regularly witnessed the 67s backing into Manor Farm Road from Green Lane, before pulling forward to the Langstrath Road terminal point.
