  1. Mary 1947 I knew I was getting old when I sat outside a café watching the world go by with a coffee when I struggled to stand up. That was bad enough but a woman who was I thought elderly came across and helped me stand up. Then I knew I was OLD.
  2. You had a lay in then? I am normally up at 4 o'clock, I wish I wasn't.
  3. Belated birthday wishes Nonna, sorry I missed it yesterday, I was dreaming of all of that gorgeous food that you prepare.
  4. Happy birthday young Jill Sparrow may your day be filled with red wine, music and cats.
  5. I also refuse wherever possible to pay by cash for 2 main reasons, first I don't want a cashless society and also to save peoples jobs. Have you noticed how many supermarkets now have less checkouts for you to place your goods on, they want you to do it yourself, that way they employ less checkout operators and I pay by cash.
  6. Happy birthday BK, have a great day and treat yourself.
  7. Well I have been reading this topic but I have yet to hear from our current cake specialist Carni. How are you me duck , hope to hear your expert views soon.
  8. Dos San Miguel is essential to know when visiting Spain.
  9. Bulwell in the 60s was popular for Bestwood Estate residents to go shopping, at that time you could buy most things that you wanted. It had a very busy Market in the centre island , how anybody never was killed by the traffic going to and from the market was surprising. I can remember having to there go with on a Saturday with my mother walking there and back carrying the shopping, Bulwell as with most has seen the decline of markets and variety of shops.
  10. With spending a lot of time in Bulwell in my youth I understood all of it sad aint I. If yer want n interpreter yer af to get Ben or mesen ter do it fer yer.
  11. Your comments about seeing the clock make me feel even older, I can remember taking my 2 sons to see it just after it opened. Who also insisted crawling through the through the wooden caterpillar that was also in the Centre.
  12. Today I am feeling better, Friday evening a week ago I was at the kitchen sink taking my night time medication as I tried to swallow it ,with water as I am a wimp, suddenly it felt like I was hit in the chest with a sledge hammer and then I could not breathe. I struggled to try and breathe whilst holding my chest the pain was horrendous, I was slowly slipping down to the floor and I managed to indicate to my wife for a chair, which she placed under me before I reached the floor, thinking at the time well this is where it all ends. Did I have clean under wear on, remembering what my mother use
  13. She looks amazing Col, you must be so proud of her. PS I can see the resemblance to you. lol
  14. Here is a Marsden from next to Pretty Windows, our Ben may have worked here years later than the photo, but what stories could he tell.
  15. Beekay those fries look nice, are you sharing as Lizzie will enjoy them as well. By all information we are saving on electric as well.
  16. When I lived on Bestwood Estate we had a scullery, a kitchen was what rich people had. They had a kitchen and a scullery where the scullery maid worked. A term I think that was used in that era.
  17. How is my day well it started off terrible, cup of coffee and sat to watch the news on the TV. TV not working so I tried all ways to see what was wrong with it with no luck. I dont trust repair engineers who come to the house, so I started looking for a new one on the internet, visit to website of the large store in Viccy centre where I purchased this one from. I looked into my purchasing history and found this broken one was 4 years 9 months old and at the bottom of the invoice it stated 5-year guarantee. What a result they will be here tomorrow. That solved into bathroom and toothbrush has n
  18. The solution for the school head is easy, send the child home at the end of the day with a letter to the parents telling them the school only teaches children. Suggesting to them that as the child now thinks it is a dog and a dog trainer is the most suitable place for the child to go to, let the parents sort them out, if the child does have social and emotional needs it is up to them to arrange it. Schools with their budgets cut and work overload have neither the time , money or staff to deal with it. The child would always be welcome to attend the school again when they identify as a child.
  19. I now identify as an Independent Idiot and speak fluent Idiocy. The world has gone mad and I cannot do anything to change it, so now if I can say what I want and if I unintentionally upset anybody they cannot complain as I am now a minority.
  20. A photo from my kitchen window early this morning. A heron landed on my neighbours garage roof to view the breakfast menu available from my pond. After perusing for 15 minutes it decided to dine elsewhere.
  21. That sounds painful, I will opt out.

Have to agree a fag was important.
  23. Have to disagree with you all about Manning, especially the pupils. As a 16 year old from Bestwood Estate I thought they were the best around.
  24. Great day today, Virgin sorted out my router, it has been broken since Friday morning. It only took him 5 minutes to sort it out, the main supply cable was u/s. What surprised me was how dependant I have become on the internet. The amount of times I was going to go onto my laptop to find info ,weather films additional TV programmes shopping contacts in fact to many things to mention. How did we ever manage pre internet days. Dont tell me to use my phone , as my fingers always seem to press the wrong buttons, the buttons are too small and it takes me too long. How have others fared wh
  25. Beekay I purchased it from Amazon the Daewoo 12L Rotisserie Air Fryer it was £104, the wife uses it all the time. Like Phil I seem to buy all things for the wife such as Bread makers and they usually end up hid away in cupboards of disposed of, but not this it saves time and electricity.
