  1. Sorry about the bad dreams about Manning Jill, I am use to taking the blame for most things, I am usually guilty, I only have fond memories of Manning but I cannot recall them on this forum. Us Bestwood boys always create problems where ever we go, Ben will soon be back in full flow re-energised by his new more powerful liberty bodice, watch out Bulwell.
  2. Great news Ben I cant wait till I see you in Wethers and to be taught more from the Master.
  3. I know how you feel IAN they just don't appreciate these gifts, I brought mine a new belt and bag , she went berserk , I told her the hoover would work a lot better.
  4. Ben a solution to stop you getting bored, make a list of the times you have fell in love, then write down all of their names also how many rings you have brought. That should keep you occupied forever, failing that describe all of the liberty bodices you have had or the waistcoats necessary for the modern man.
  5. I think your modesty is an admission to what some of us thought , free beef burgers.
  6. Come on caftan don't be shy, what were these perks?
  7. Well isn't that a surprise a couple of nurses swooning after Ben and running around to satisfy his every need. I would say get well soon but it appears you are on the way back to your old self.
  8. What else did you expect RR, they did ride through Mucky Huckna, one minute they were riding next they were running.
  9. Come on IAN what about equality, why pick on females where is the picture of a male or are they all inside the Spoons. LOL
  10. Sorry for the colour of the text in the previous post , I copied and pasted it and never changed the colour. My eyes struggle to read it as well.
  11. Totally agree with you that the standard of language and writing has altered, but is it because we have aged and long for the good old days that we don't like the modern ways. Who had parents that disapproved of our modern slang and music. Which begs the question if we were to insist on using the old ways, which old ways do we go back to, This an extract from Chaucers Canterbury Tales written in the 14th century. Whan that aprill with his shoures soote The droghte of march hath perced to the roote, And bathed every veyne in swich licour Of which vertu engendred is the flour; Wha
  12. Try a Toyota CH.R, a petrol engine with battery power as well, a quiet comfortable ride with good economy. Then no bother if the battery power is runs out.
  13. Jill more stories of your school days would be appreciated by forum members please, they make me howl with laughter, the stories not the members.
  14. I was going to reply to you RR but I forgot what I was going to write.
  15. Remember some of those surnames Ben , some were well known for their exploits.
  16. Vernon Park I have spent many hours on there in years gone bye, made many friends from the area where Basford Flats were built. The park was to me an amenity that always under used by people other than us kids. When you think about it wasn't we lucky to live in Nottingham with so many parks. Out of the park onto Vernon road into Basford along Lincoln Street to Billy Bacons Field, who remembers the wakes on there when many romances started and ended on the same night.
  17. So many people will recall their Bestwood childhood in that area I feel so sad for the current young children who are unable to wander off from Bestwood Estate across the fields as far as Bestwood road and from Hucknall road all the way to Oxclose lane and Arnold. So much to see and do such a shame gone forever.
  18. /www.nottinghampost.com/news/nottingham-news/hundreds-new-homes-set-built-1922914 Ben this is the link which brings tears to some of our eyes. Plans are afoot to build houses on the grounds of Padstow and Henry Whipple schools. Padstow was the training school for our Bens later adventures in life, apart from that look at all the open spaces which will go and the row of popular trees , visible from miles away will they stay or go, I don't know . These trees have been a landmark for generations so I hope they will be saved.

  20. I owned a Viva as well, I also owned an Allegro despite all the bad publicity about them it took my family and trailer many thousands of miles camping with not one bit of bother and it was only the 1100cc one. If not on cars I will choose shipphams paste as a discussion on Princes may cause upsets.LOL
  21. Who am I to disagree with you IAN.
  22. Welcome back Jill, I have missed you, your style of writing and comments they always bring a smile to my face. I often go back and reread of your tales of manning to brighten up my day, when are you going to write some more, in fact write a book, I will certainly purchase one.
  23. I have to agree with you on that, I would probably go further, maybe because I am a bit of a prude, I believe all people should keep their sexual activities behind closed doors. I personally think this topic has gone far enough and posters should post more nottstalgia.
  24. Remember the Lone Ranger?. Any truth that the lone ranger was convicted for the murder of Tonto when he found out that " Keymo Sabee" translated to big head.
