darkazana 1,736
It's a bee fly. Feeds on nectar. Flies April to May and it's larvae feed on grubs of solitary bees.

tomlinson 879
Elephant Hawk Moth, feeds on nectar. Don't know if it's some sort of bee or not. I first saw one in Austria but they're fairly common in Norfolk.
colly0410 1,181
If it moved erratically Mam would have called it a scopodittle. Silverfish, ants, leatherjackets, flies, me when I was rushing about: all would be called scopodittles by Mam..

fch782c 144
If it moved erratically Mam would have called it a scopodittle. Silverfish, ants, leatherjackets, flies, me when I was rushing about: all would be called scopodittles by Mam.. Silverfish as I remember looked like tiny silver woodlouce, horrible little creatures that would live under carpets, underlay and bathroom floor mats Really glad to be back on line everybody I've not been too well these last few weeks, in and out of QMC but things are starting to brighten up. Michael Booth 7,364
It was sad to see the posts regarding Paul (fch782c) as he passed away not long after. I'm sure that you'll all agree that his contribution to Nottstalgia was much appreciated. 1
