letsavagoo 964
A few years ago I bought an old clock. Nice thing with a round oak case, like a school clock or station masters with an 8 day movement, it was very dirty and scruffy and didn't work so I cleaned the case up and re stained it and took the movement out. Sorted out the winding ratchet which was broken and took it all apart. De-greased it and re-lubed with some proper clock oil and it has been ticking happily since keeping very good time. Last week it stopped and will only go for an hour or so and stop again. So I have been starting it all the time so I can run the spring down to make it easier to dismantle again. I hung it on the wall in a slightly different place, about 2 feet from where it normally lives as it's easier to reach to keep starting. It runs happily in its new spot but still not happy in it old spot. No hotter or colder and no reason I can think of as to why moving it a few feet makes it run. Whats going on ere then. Bubblewrap 3,815
Is the clock hung level? If not it can cause the pendulum swing incorrectly.?
letsavagoo 964
Yes it's correctly hung. (I was going to say well hung but resisted) I move the angle of dangle until there is a nice even tick. It's easy to tell when the angle is wrong as you get a lopsided tick.
