It's worrying when your pet has problems and you don't know what to do. My daughters dog vomited this morning and worried us all because it was ......... She took a photo and sent it to the vet. ( she can't go out of the community because of this pandemic) he replied and said it was undigested food in liquid form. So she's been in our care all afternoon and has gone from being frisky, quiet and trembling. I know she's hungry but it's better not to try to feed her. The vet wants to know how she is in the morning.

Glad your cat has returned and hope she settles down again. Maybe she's had a traumatic experience.

Tarquin, my tabby and white cat, is on a diet. Getting a bit porky.  This morning, he bolted biscuits and some chicken before I could stop him. Less than 5 minutes later, he threw the whole lot up on my bed! It hadn't even reached his stomach!

 

It's a jolly good job I love him to bits!

just a little tale   While on holiday in Spain (many moons ago) we made friends with a Yorkshire man named Sid. Well Sid wanted to buy a fishing rod,  down to the market we went, first stall wanted 10 eruos another 15 euros each time Sid used to say "HOW MUCH" now come on your joking. He tried to bargin with the stall holders, but this did not work. Yes he did get his fishing rod but ended up paying 25euros as the other stall holders had sold all there rods.

Hi nonnaB yes Christmas time was a very happy time to work  in the salon. It was amazing how many clients would give us Christmas presents. I remember one year, we had about 30 bottles of wins 10 boxes of Chocs plus what you client would give you in a christmas card.  Mind you when NonnB and myself worked in salons  the wagers were C!!!!!!!! we did rely on tips and our commission for a decent living wage.

Mary, very true. You couldn't believe that so many customers thought so much of you as to bring Christmas presents.

About "how much" it's ok to ask it but when they reply can you understand them? I had to learn replies very quickly here.

Jill, I find when a cat upchucks, they do like a soft surface underfoot! My house is mainly tile, with a couple of rugs. If they start to be sick they move to a rug!

Another day cutting the tree stump out. Contractor can't do it with stump grinder because it is embedded with an ancient rock soakaway and has also encapsulated concrete posts and footings. I've dug a 5' deep trench all the way around it and removing the rock soakaway from underneath. There could be a tunnel under it this afternoon. A bit like working on a coalface with a pick. Quite enjoying it really

Many years ago we used a fax machine a lot ........ fax? What’s one of those?  
A business colleague of my husband’s knew it was his birthday and he also knew he was very frugal when it came to buying the rolls of fax paper.   A fax started coming through in our upstairs office, it kept going on and on and on.  All it said on the fax message, in very large print, ‘Happy Birthday Roger’, time and time again, not only using up a whole roll of fax paper but also all the ink.  The paper went across the office floor, along the landing, down the stairs and along the hallway, before we managed to stop it printing by just unplugging the damn machine.

I've still got a fax machine. I noticed it yesterday on the desk hidden behind my iMac. I must chuck it in the next skip we have. I've not had a fax message in years. I also remember Telex where you typed messages in real time and it came out looking a bit like a telegram. I remember chucking that into the factory skip although it would probably sell on ebay to a collector today! Also do you remember those GPO switchboards where you plugged in a line to the appropriate extension?

We dumped our fax machine years ago but you’re right, would sell for a few bob these days.   What we have hung onto are boxes and boxes of 3 pin adaptors for the dozens of pieces of office, household and garden equipment we’ve bought and then thrown away when they’ve broken.  I’d love to dump the lot but I’m not allowed to ...... they COULD be useful.

We've had two skips this year so far. We've done the workshop, the shed, the two greenhouses and all the unwanted furniture that we'd put in the sun lounge. The landing is piled with disposables and we've not even started on the storeroom yet. We're taking a break until Jan and then we'll have the final purge. What we have have got is about 30 paintings and prints collected over the years and although not intrinsically valuable it would break my heart to dump them. There is no wall space available for them.
