How's your day?

Our daughter and her boyfriend are both veggies. She went veggie some years ago when we kept a few sheep and they became pets. They both look extremely healthy on their diet. She works for the NHS specialising in eating disorders! I’m very fond of fresh veg but I don’t think I could live without meat. The large ginger tomcat sitting on my knee agrees with me.

Not this one.  I think you mean that some manufacturers of vegetarian processed foods do their best to make the products look like meat.

But if veggies didn't crave the look and taste, why would they bother?

It's said that vegetarians can't resist bacon. Do you have a secret desire? You don't have to confess obviously!

Bacon is one of the essential food groups.

The sales of meat substitute products are on decline in Australia.

I'm a vegetarian, I only eat animals that eat grass.

By the way I don't consider Tofu, Couscous and Quinoa as food

G'day Oz,

When I was younger, on odd occasions,  we had tripe with onion sause for dinner. Tripe was disgusting. It is only now that we could have, just as easily, been presented with French onion soup and fed the tripe to the dogs.

Alpha, that reminds me of the song Bob Platt by the Fivepenny Piece

Bob Platt weren't a temperance fellow
in fact he'd a liking for beer.
But he ne'er used t' go beyond limit
Except once or twice during t' year.

His wife ne'er used to wait up for him
Who'd leave him his supper all set.
And when he came in from "The Wheatsheaf"
He managed quite well you can bet.

One neet he were later ner ever.
He'd come all t'way home with Jim Wood.
So he gobbled up all that wur gooin
And turned in as quick as he could.

"Did you like youre meat pie?" said his mississ
"Ah sees no meat pie", replies Bob,
"So I've had all that tripe for me supper
As tha'd left i'that basin on't hob".

"Thi pie wur in't th'oven you clout yed!
It's a wonder tha didna choke.
Dust tha know what tha's just bin and etten?

You’re in summer Oz we’re in winter and near the alps so in theory it should be cold , cold as in at least 10-15 c below.

Our weather has been so changeable this summer, today's forecast of 30c got to 32 and tomorrow it's forecast to be 19 after a cool change blows through. 10-15 below is not a temperature anyone should live in.

Not good today or yesterday . A year and a half ago my brothers youngest son died and the other day his middle son had a heart attack and passed away at 52 years of age. My thoughts are with their mum. She is strong but it’s a hard pill to swallow.

Bad enough losing close relatives but at such a young age is truly awful...
