carni 10,094
What about American Hard Gums. The way to eat them is....place three hard gums in each side of your mouth and press teeth firmly together and see how long it takes to unstick your teeth. Not recommended for removable plastic teeth. Naughty but nice.
crankypig 457
My grannie used to ask if you wanted a joojoo, which was a chewy jelly sweet, don't know if she made the name up or if they were really joojoos.
loppylugs 8,429
Yes, I heard the same name for those sweets so I don't think she made it up.

EileenH 496
#79 I don`t think she invented joojoos, Crankypig. I`ve got a vague memory of something called a jujube (sp?) that was a sort of jelly sweet. Very nice.
Michael Booth 7,364
Is this what you mean, EileenH and crankypig?
EileenH 496
Oh yes! Well done Michael - and it seems that I even spelled it right.

loppylugs 8,429
Look at all those bright colours, though! We were probably on a permanent artificial colour and sugar high. :-)
banjo48 928
One of my twin daughters spent a few months back in the old country, couple of years ago, and came back to Oz with an English lolly addiction ! She regularly seeks out the lolly shops specializing in this stuff here, and spends a bomb ! mind she usually gets dad a few packets of Angel Delight too, and mum her favorite Jelly Babies or Flying Saucers. I was also partial to the Fruit Pastiles or whatever they were called. I still love Maltesers as well, but readily available anywhere. I know they're all crap and are full of colors and garbage but it's nice.
Michael Booth 7,364
Chocolate Brazils for me although it's a different sort of confectionery to the ones you mention, banjo48.
