  1. ms. you would be surprized at thenumberes of mads and rockers still riding scooters and bikes over the last 2 or years we and the mods have held several events with both groups attenting all been good events no trouple those who have never grown up from both fractions just dont come always a bit of banter mainly from me telling the mods im going to play domino rally with the schooters they just laugh at me cuz they know i would not do it anyway. we even have a few mock battles from time to time. . mick hopefully there will be a few spaces for cars in the old garage we managed to get in there
  2. did concider it but im afraid at 25 pounds each it was beyond my pocket now but our friend john was going he used to play base guitar for his backing group for a while and has not seen him for quite a few years when i told him about it in february he whent and booked it the next week.

  10. thanks clifton we hope to make this a really special day this year for those who are still using whitehart and we whould love to meet up with old faces who came down during the 60s/70s if any readers members on the site are interested just turn up on the day no tickets needed no entrance fee but any profits made from tombola stalls raffle ect will be going to charity we donated 500 pounds a few weeks ago to click sargents billy house derby rd lenton and hope to take easter eggs for the fammilies and children on qmc childrens cancer ward next week. .

  18. always loved the atmosphere at gosefair but like mellisa i think its gone of a bit in resent years partly due to the fact its got too big too expesive and is nowheld over5 day rather than the traditional 3 day so the lord mayor can no longer use the traditional oppening on a thursday 12 pm so not even that to look forward to now.
  19. i went to netherfield infants ashwell st from 1956 to 1959 then on to the junior school next door till 1962 then went to station rd carlton girls school till 1966
  20. i always prefered ritz to regal but regal usually started about half an hour later on a saturday afternoon so if you were late or could not get in ritz you could rush up to regal for there 6d rush.
  21. the regal and the barbers shop are now owned and used by the penticostal churchthat was on the other side of the barbers shop the original church building is used for community work youth clubs ,mums and todler sect they also have a charity shop there the money from this goes back into its community groups, barbers used for offices. and cinema is the main church building there is now a coridor linking all three buildings.
  22. part of my job as a playworker was to teach kids the old street games skipping was always everyone favorite but we had yoyos old wooden ones as well as new plastic one two/three balls the ball in the stocking used on a wall or on the ground snobs whipand top but have to say in my opinion the new ones you can buy are much too lightto get them to work properly in the end we found a man with a wood lathe who experimented with diferent woods till we managed tto get the right weight to get the motion right he aalso made whips for us he sold quite a lot of both carrot bottoms and the mushroom tops
  23. yes i too like savoy but as lizzie said parking around there not good now plus lots of steps hence not very disabled friendy but they do try. and they very good for private shoings of films if you want to take a large group. often did that when i was working with kids.
