Old Roads around Basford
NewBasfordlad replied to Ashley's topic in 'Mucky Ukna' Bull'el Baasford & Hyson Green
Hi Katyjay That's the one entrance half way up Bailey Street on the left as you went up. Monkey climbing frame amongst other things that's what I fell off. The land is still there between Bailey Street and the back of the houses on Western Boulevard but I think the entrance is now off Tintern Drive. Colin -
I have my own 'ALIEN' well SWMBO looks strange when she has a monk on. Colin

Beefy you do make me chortle. By the way I am taking bookings for front row seats outside B & M's window. Do agree with you though. Colin

Father taught me to swim at Calvo. Or rather he gave me a nudge as we walked along the side of the pool and then stood there to make sure I didn't drown. Colin -

Katyjay, I can't believe your not a Honky Tonk Woman. Can we make it The Last Time you rubbish my all time favourite group. There's no need to Paint It Black after all it's Only Rock 'n' Roll. Now I know you Can't Always Get What You Want said the man at the Beggars Banquet as he dipped his Sticky Fingers in the bowl of Brown Sugar. Any more bad talk and you will Start Me Up and make me all Doom & Gloom. But Time Is On My Side and Wild Horses wouldn't let me have Sympathy For the Devil. Yours Jumpin Jack Flash.

Love autumn but Halloween leaves me cold, to American for my taste. Colin

As posted above The Limes on the 614 used to be a regular stop for me. A old fashioned tranny café, spotlessly clean and great grub. Mind you that was some years ago and I believe it has changed hands now. Colin

Bear, Puma, Lion, and various other exotic animals all kept in the old stabling round the back off the place. Trouble was some off them used to escape with great regularity, the puma cleared the bar one day as it took a stroll through the pub. All got stopped when one of his primates tried to get in next doors bedroom window one morning. Colin

The real laugh of course is the miles of old Victorian lead water pipe still in use under ground. Colin

Hadn't heard of that one sounds interesting to say the least. As a heating and gas engineer I usually work on non potable stuff so can still use the good old 60/40. Colin

Ayupmeducks its the smelly wellies brigade again. Lead no longer allowed in electronics soldering must be lead free which has a higher melting point. 2/3 of Japanese manufacturers now use a tin, silver, copper mixture needs about an extra 30 degrees C. We have to use the bloody stuff on potable water as well. Colin

Anyone frequent this place in the early 70s. I worked for EMGAS out of Beeston showrooms at the time. Working down that end of town I popped in for a pint one lunch time nearly pooped mysen when I found out what pets he kept. SWMBO's just read me an article which brought it flooding back. Colin

Windows 7 Professional. No probs at all. Have yet to hear a good word about Windows 8. I was in the market for a new tower earlier this year, just as 8 came out. Son spoke to his mate at PC world and we did a good deal as we bought Windows 7. Colin

Makes you wonder if it was being chased by something and was trying to escape. I seen pigeons take some awful knocks one way or another and they usually seem OK. Unless the knock was a ounce and an eighth of No 6 that slows em up a bit. Colin

They don't need the doc's over here now, everything's on data bases. Last time I was stopped I went to produce my insurance certificate, driving license and log book copper says "no thanks mate that can be a fiddle, data base's don't lie". He gave me a funny look when I replied "depends what idiot government employee is doing the imputing". Still not sure if he realised I was inferring most government employees including coppers. Colin
