  3. #8 - That's about the size of it too I reckon!
  4. Not quite like that. You can still drive it on the road after its has failed if it is going to where it is going to be repaired and/or for re-test. https://www.gov.uk/getting-an-mot/after-the-test As I read that you can drive it home if you are going to repair it yourself.
  5. Got mine today. Been on Virmin for years and never had any problems with them
  6. Think yourself lucky. I haven't got enough hair left to get a large collection of grey ones - got a small collection of grey ones tho'
  7. And Raglan made lathes here. Later bought out by Myford. You will find out that rather a lot more things were made here.
  8. There must have been something went off as KTV was a 1949 registaration but as Merthyr and one or two others have said (and know) the last trolley buses were registered in 1952 so the registrations must have been withheld until then. As some of you know I am into classic cars but I have NEVER seen KTV, letters first, on any other vehicle except buses and I notice Nottingham registrations when they appear. Perhaps I see it more readily as the my Father had a 1961 Ford Zephyr which was also the car I learned to drive in. That was 965 KTV, obviously letters last.
  9. Looking at Merthyr Imp's post #718 on that page of the book just makes me wonder, was KTV *** reserved for Nottingham City Transport vehicles. All of the ones on that page alone plus all 6-wheeled trollies 500-601. And although it is a 1949 registration not all were registered in 1949.
  10. Me neither. Never heard of 'em
  11. #56. No doesn't ring any bells
  12. Yes thats the man. His flat was in the big 3 storey Georgian looking house right at the lowest point of Alpine St on the left going towards St Leo's, with The White Swan (Mucky Duck?) behind you. Definitely mid 70's tho'.
  13. Click 'envelope' (picture of) to the left of your ID on top right of page. Click 'view all messages at top of panel. all messages will be viewable. Down right hand side there ar little checkboxes - they are not very obvious. Check the ones you want to delete, Click 'delete' button at bottom of page and Bob's yer uncle!
  14. Just had to look at google Maps to find out where Barlock Road was at Cinder Hill. Didn't know there was a Park Tavern at Arnold!

    On This Day

My mother was only 55 when she died. I didn't think too much to it at the time as I was only 28 or something like that and 55 seemed a long time away. I certainly think about it now that I have passed 55 by a few years and still don't seem to have done anything.
  17. A 'like' button is sufficient. If you dislike something just keep yer trap shut!
  18. I'd use the 10/40. The 20/50 will be a bit thicker.
  19. #57. Well I knew about him although I must admit I needed a reminder. Could Alford Road Edwalton be a misspelling?
  20. And another thing. How many extra trams can you put on at peak periods on a single track? You can put as many extra buses on as you like. you also have to persuade people to use them of course
  21. Perhaps. Not many seats on the tram so people are packed on standing. Trent/Barton or whatever they call themselves these days don't have double deckers. It would help if they did at least at peak periods.
  22. #28 I have been on all roads into that roundabout at all times of the day, I drive for a living. Try being on the A610 queuing to go north or south on to the M1 or coming into Nottingham at 8.30 am. A major reason that only 4 cars get through is due to dozy drivers. An easier way to shorten the queues rather than installing trams and all the rest of the inconvenience that comes with it is simply to put on extra buses. The bus companies need to be encouraged to do so.
  23. Absolutely nothing wrong with the bus service. Bus stops are also at more frequent intervals than tram stops. No ridiculous expense of laying tracks, no inconvenience to peoples lives, homes businesses etc. Totally pointless it coming west of Cinder Hill.
