The Cocked Hat was where I bought my legal first pint. I lived on Withern road near the junction of Bidford road which had a cut through onto Broxtowe lane and it came out near the Cocked Hat. I also went there with my parents and while they sat in the lounge my sister and myself would explore the back garden and have our compulsory bottle of pop and packet of Smiths crisps with the blue wrap of salt . Later when I was old enough I went to the disco nights often with the night ending with a visit by the police.

I was just 15 and waiting to start my first job at Baker And Plumb. My dad had just passed away and I fluffed my mock G.C.E exams so the school thought it might be better all round if I left school early to go out into the big wide world to earn some money and look after my mum. I didn't turn out too bad having only 3 jobs in that time and was never out of work.

I used to work with a Shirley Terzza at Elastic Yarns in 1967.......she was a secretary to the MD. She lived Newthorpe way.

Hi Lizzie I am in the same boat too 😥 I did get back to the proper page but that was by signing out but when you log back in again it takes you back to this page. If you click on the dark blue square with 4 smaller white squares in top r/h corner you can find new content, members etc but not ideal situation.
