  1. Sorry to hear you are not too good Catfan all the best for a quick recovery. Its not nice having to stay in bed especially if you're an active person. Get well soon.
  2. My mum has to have a permanent catheter. She has Interstial Cystitis and had to have monthly instillations into her bladder.. A week ago the urologist has eliminated the instillations and she now has this catheter. I have to change the bag every other day and the nurse will come every 2 weeks to change the catheter itself. Its not what we wanted for her but on the whole its better for her because of the visits she has to do always with an ambulance and all the movement onto the examining couch especially after a hip replacement. She now cannot walk.

    Tea

On the subject of tea......years ago when we still lived in Nottingham we came down to Liguria on holiday. When we arrived at our appartment we were all gasping for a cuppa so on went the kettle and tea was brewed. Milk and sugar added.....it was salty. Thought we'd put salt in instead of sugar so on went the kettle again. The same thing happened. We then realised that the tap water was salty, which used to happen fairly often around that area. After that we always used bottled water and I still do now. I have tea sent out to me with orders from British corner shop. I dont like ital
  4. A few years ago a cashier at Aldi weighed my mums loose products , then when we came to pay I realised that what she had been charged was far too much. Went back to reweigh them and the amount was the same. After a while of arguing that the price was far too much for the amounts, the cashier was getting a bit stroppy until she "realised" that the back of the scales was lodged against some thing and it made quite a difference to the weight of the goods. Then all hell let loose of customers returning to reweigh. So be careful.
  5. Nothing to do with this discussion but I am reading a book , when I have time, about life during the war. I was born in '42 so can't remember any of it but did see the after effects and disasters it left. The book " Nella Lasts War" is a series of diaries which account for the type of life she led during the war years. It was more interesting for me because the diaries were about Barrow in Furness where I was born. Everything that was mentioned including the shipyard and Walney I knew exactly where they were. I was 4 when we came to Nottingham but went back for many holidays to stay the sc
  6. Yes that sounds like it Rog. Ive forgotten the names of most of the area but some names float back occasionally.
  7. Made me think. Italian youths are very sentimental and its evident with all the writings on the wall at bus stops and stations , train stations where their girls catch transort. They pour their hearts out with emotions and they arent afraid to show them. Are english men and youths the same. I would like to think they are? When I was younger I cant remember any emotions from them.
  8. Tat no but sentimental yes. I have a ring that my husband gave me a few years ago for our wdding anniversary. Its about 1/4 "" wide with a small ruby heart in the centre with engraving written in Italian . " Ti amo ogni giorno di piĆ¹." Which means "Every day I love you more" I love this ring and it causes a lot of comments. Does anyone else have something sentimental.?
  9. Blue bags. I remember when I was younger and we used to go to see my grandparents in Barrow in Furness. We had to pass through many small villages and among them was a place that used to make these blue bags. Locals and us used to call this place The Blue Works and I cant remember where it was. Somewhere between the lakes and Barrow. Passing through the very narrow road everything was covered in this blue stuff, even the grass was blue. As kids we were fascinated by it and it seemed to be the highlight of the trip along with the Hoad in Ulveston on top of the hill.
  10. We had Max put to sleep a few years ago as he was very ill. Hes buried in our garden and Misty our dog now goes every evening with my husband to say goodnight. No matter how late it is when hes finished work he says " come on Misty lets go and see Max". Up she jumps and gets there before my husband. Faithful.
  11. Lots of talk about Skeggy and lovely photos taken there but I never went to Skegness until I was 16 and then it was with a hiking group. Coach trip there with group everyone to do what they wanted and pubs on the way home. Photos , Not got a lot of when we were young. My dad must have taken hundreds as he was a keen photographer and printed all his photos keeping all the negatives in a dressing table drawer. My brother found that he could unscrew the drawer knob and wee through the hole and finish putting the knob back on. It took my mum ages to find what the smell was.
  12. Just relaxing and catching up a bit after spending a day and a half at the hospital. Mum has fallen and broken her hip. Meal times are when and how and what . Yesterday morning all I had was water until I found time to go somewhere for breakfast. The restaurant in the hospital has closed down so had to go outside to a bar for a quick cappuccino and brioche. This morning I had 2 indian figs. Deliciously cold and very refreshing. Mum likes her crunchynut cornflakes every morning. They don't sell them here so I order from British Corner Shop and order more things I can't get here. She ran o

  16. Tonight I had some rainbow trout to cook so here goes what I did. First made a mixture of roasted pine nuts, chopped parsley, zest of a lemon and a sprinkling of parmesan. I oven baked the fish until almost cooked and spread the mixture on top and popped it back in the oven for a few minutes. Delicious.

  23. I started using postimages and found it so easy to use. I've not used it for a while but now it doesn't seem to work. Every time I want to post a photo all I get is a dot or else nothing and the cursor moves down a shade. I've tried every option including deleting and reinstalling. It won't accept my password so changed it and it still won't accept my old or new password. I can't really remember the sequence of selecting and posting but I do remember that it was so simple and intuitive so now I think I may be a bit dumb. I keep trying but it won't beat me. I don't give up that easily. Anyone e
