  1. Sounds like bog snorkeling could be your next outdoor pursuit. Something from Scotland will make the pain go away if it doesn't drink some more. Take care, the bruises will fade.
  2. My advice is go to your local hardware emporium and handle the tool. pick the tool up, see if it feels comfortable in your hands, see if it's not too heavy and unwieldy, that changing the battery pack is easy and the same goes for any other attachments. Check availability of spares, service and warranty. Chose a reputable brand and buy it there. It might cost a few dollars more but you know what you are buying and if anything does go wrong you know where to take it back to.
  3. Bangers , crackers and explosive fireworks were banned from sale in Australia in 1974 all other fireworks were banned from sale in 1982 with the exception of a single day in the Northern Territory and under tight controls in Tasmania. Despite this you can often see and hear them being let off locally. There is a thriving black market in illegal fireworks and strangely enough they can be bought easily on t'interweb via gumtree and facebook even though the are banned. I'll admit to having a lot of fun with 3d cannons as a kid and tying 1d bangers to the rocket stick hoping that the bang and
  4. Just come in from doing that to my driveway. I use a polymer sand product called "Pavelock" it literally runs into all the little gaps, sweep the excess off and water with a light mist and its good for another six months.
  5. After no cases of community transmission in South Australia for 7 months we wake up this morning to 17 cases of community transmission in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. At this stage it is believed that the origin point is one of the medi-hotels that house people coming from overseas in quarantine for two weeks and from there in to a large family group. It has been acknowledged that health authorities had not been routinely testing those that have been working in these medi-hotels. I find this an amazing oversight. It was a failure of procedures in a medi-hotel that led to the recent p
  6. I agree Phil but if you are in business I would add one word "Cash Flow is King" I have seen many businesses go broke withe excellent P&L statements but they did not have the cash to smooth out the lumps and bumps that come with running a business.
  7. Just wondering If you lodge a postal vote before the election and die before the day of the poll does you vote count?
  8. I hope the people of America see sense and vote out the GOP (Great Orange Plonker)
  9. No! HSR just a regular pub quiz goer with a group of friends for a meal, a few beers and a laugh. Been going together for over 12 years. There are a number of pub trivia questions that turn up regularly and that James Bond question is one of those. Here are a few more common Bond quiz questions Q) What was the first car to appear in a Bond film? ..... Q) Which actor appeared in the most Bond films? ..... Q) Which actor from Last of the Summer Wine had roles in three Bond films? ..... Q) Pat Roach from Auf Weidersehen Pet appeared in which Bond film? .....
  10. I think it is time to correct some perceptions about Australia Granted if you take the population density of the whole of Australia it comes out as 3.2 persons per sq kilometre. This is ultra simplistic as 66+% of our population live in our 8 capital cities and 84% of our total population live within 50km of the coast. Lets look at Sydney which is probably the best known of our cities. The average population density of greater Sydney is 304 per sq km. The Australian Bureau of Statistics show there are areas of Sydney where population density is between 10,000 and 20,000 per square km, a
  11. Right on LizzieM, his harmonica based main theme from Midnight Cowboy is so atmospheric and he also wrote my favourite Bond theme, You Only Live Twice. One of the all time great songwriters.
  12. I don't do it on purpose they just catch my eye as they fly past and now having superpowers vision I see them.
  13. My top three 1 You only live twice 2 Diamonds are Forever 3 From Russia with Love
  14. Hi Loppy, I have had cataract surgery on both eyes in the last two months. Absolutely brilliant, you don't know how bad your eyes are until someone fixes them as the deterioration is so slow you don't notice it. The operations were no problem, twighlight anaesthesia only after affect was like having sand in your eyes the evening of the operation but it was gone in the morning. Hope the BP can be controlled and that you can go ahead and have the operation. Then like me you will be able to see a pimple on a gnats bum at 50 paces.
  15. Sorry Beekay What was your favourite Bond theme tune?
  16. Barry Nelson was the first James Bond in a 1954 TV special Casino Royal. Bob Holness became the second actor to portray James Bond in a radio adaptation of Moonraker for the South African Broadcasting Corporation. Its amazing what sticks in your mind after twelve years of regularly attending quiz nights, it is quite a common question and turns up every so often and still catches many people out.
  17. The end of the film click clacks around the take up spool and the projector lamp now grows ever dimmer. Farewell to a wonderful actor and the original and only true 007.

  21. After 12 games without a win the Stags have sacked their manager, Graham Coughlan. He only managed to win 4 of the 29 games he was in charge for. Bookmakers have Gary Caldwell at 2/1 and Nigel Clough is 6/4 second favourite for the job.
  22. Spent a good few hours in the General Motors plant in Acacia Ridge, ah, the good old days! When GM had a plant in every mainland state. As they say in Australian politics "Vote early, Vote often"
  23. Only just in Qld then! I hope you have missed the worst of the storms. Don't forget to vote this weekend.
