  1. They're doing it on purpose, to keep me from coming up to Nottingham. I'm sure of it. Sod going abroad, I'll settle for visiting me friends and relatives.
  2. Surely though Rob, you would be entitled to your money back if you've been told you can't go.?
  3. Unless of course, the blokes could start peeing in that ghastly water feature, (unless they already do !) When do they start shipping in the sand for pretend beach? Cock-on-a-stick or candy floss anyone?
  4. Could it ever be put back the way it was? Just wondering.
  5. That's what me doctor always says. She's still not convinced that I'm 77. "Not with skin like that !", she says. Quite flattered really 'cos she only looks about 16.
  6. They also used to say that there was 5 girls to every 1 bloke in Nottingham. I'm still looking for my other 4 !
  7. Back in 1978, whilst I was working at Tilmanstone colliery, xraying the miners, we were staying at a BnB in Deal. There was a pub there that we used at night and it was the mirror image of Cheers. To their credit, the staff and locals were just as friendly. Second night there was a darts match and I was invited to join the after match eats. They even let me score. I've never forgotten it as it so much like Cheers.
  8. As long as I'm not accused of tell Bass inuendos. So I'll String along with Brass comments.
  9. I would love to Monsewer, but I wouldnt know how to conduct myself in such elequent company. I'll just enjoy the renditions of yourself and the virtuoso melodic Sparrow. Then I'll face the music.
  10. I'm amazed and impressed that you got that far. Fair play to you sir.
  11. The very best of good fortune to you both, from me !!
  12. And now the end of my day. How's it been? OK earlier, but just had a message to say my favourite Aunt passed away peacefully this afternoon. She were 94. Never realised she were only 17 years older than me. As a kid, she always looked grown up to me. R.I.P. Ethel.
  13. Thanks for clarifying for me Phil. It's only when you submit do you find your error. But this flaming tablet will insist on putting in what it thinks you meant to write.
  14. Vegemite is a good substitute, if you can't get Marmite. Lovely on toast with cheese on top.
  15. I got up to smoking 60 a day, (when I could afford it). Started smoking properly when I was 11yrs. Decided to stop about 1974ish. But that was the clue, I DECIDED to stop, not cut down. It wasn't easy at first but I'd made me mind up. No tablets, sprays and vapes hadn't been invented. Kept a couple in me pocket, just in case but was able to throw them away after a couple of months. Consider myself a smoker who doesn't touch fags.
  16. Nah!! What we need is some bugger who were there in 1870 or thereabouts !! Am I right or Wot,!
  17. Surely, I would have thought Notty Ash's old picture would have clinched it. Well done N.A. Got me convinced.
  18. Good luck and very best wishes to you both. CF & Dj.
  19. Colly, can you send me a mere 5o thousand pounds, so I can get me aging Grandmother a new hip replacement. Then I can bring her over from Tobackistan. I'll send you the change.
  20. I'll lend you a walking stick Col. You can lean on me.
  21. With the greatest respect AG. It's not the latest picture that's under discussion, but Bamber's old picture which is causing the Enigma. Bamber, I don't, know about Wright's directory, but I can vouch for a Boots chemist being at the top of Derby Road, because I had to take prescriptions there when I were a little lad. My sister in law worked there when it were a restaurant. I don't think any of were there circa 1900, so we can't be sure.
  22. That's a good photo of yourn Brew, did you stand in the middle of the road to take it. Risking life and limb and tripod.
  23. Another thought, could it possibly be somewhere off Woodborough Road? Can't think of many places as steep as that.
