Cliff Ton 10,556
Everybody has discovered the Evening Post website is a real pain because of all the adverts, so that each page take several minutes to load. You can run various Ad-block programmes, but there is now a possibly decent alternative. Notts TV (the local station) have got a local news section on their website. I'm not guaranteeing it's perfect, but it can't be worse than the NEP. http://news.nottstv.com
TBI 2,351
I've given up on NP, just couldn't find a decent blocker for firefox. That site looks pretty good though!
Bilbraborn 1,594
I thought the NP was just another department of Nottingham City Control freaks. oops I mean council.
Rob.L 1,091
Adblocker on Google Chrome takes most of the pain away from the NEP web site, but yes, it is absolutely awful to navigate.
Kendaldrac 40
Slightly old but this newspaper article from The Guardian sums up the decline and future for regional and local newspapers with emphasis on the old Long Eaton Advertiser http://www.theguardian.com/media/2009/apr/03/local-newspapers-journalism-democracy
taxi ray 170
The Evening Post has been bought out, by the Trinity Mirror group, so the actual news content could possibly get worse. Article on BBC website.
catfan 14,795
Good riddance to the NEP.

Bilbraborn 1,594
Is that the Biased Broadcasting Company. Whoops!. I like to have a look in the Post and see who is dead (Hatches, Matches and Dispatches). I also like to find out what's on in town.
FLY2 10,109
BBC East Midlands Newa is fine, it's the national news that is loaded towards the left.
BeestonMick 263
There's been a few newspapers in Nottingham, last century alone there was Nottingham Daily Express, Nottingham Guardian, Nottingham Evening Post and the Evening News, maybe more. There was one called the Journal as well but I think that was before my time.
Rob.L 1,091
#10 Not these days. The way they portray the parties, and especially each of the party leaders, they've turned into the Conservative Broadcasting Corporation. Don't forget that Nick Robinson was a mate of Cameron's at university. They may just be running frit of the threats they've been getting from the government about the BBC's future, though, and doing as they are told.
BilboroughShirley 1,120
#1 I agree Cliff Ton, the Notts local news website is good. I have just looked at Huffington Post. No annoying adds and a very amusing video clip of the Sainsburys Christmas advert. Better the Nottingham Post!
FLY2 10,109
Hey, you want to see some of the 'women ' in Bulwell and Broxtowe, they need assistance getting their cheeks through the door frames. The one in Broxtowe Lane has no paint on the frame just below waist height due to the continual chafing.

radfordred 6,284
Anyone planning buying one of these electric low carbon cars? Looks like we soon have electric cars only lanes next to the cycle only lanes?
catfan 14,795
Nothing this council plans does not surprise one bit, It's the council's "Hate the car poicy" because the council want to be seen as green as possible.
Bilbraborn 1,594
I've got a tin of green paint somewhere. So what does produce greenhouse gasses in Nottingham? Cars driving in low gear over the multiple speed humps, driving slowly in traffic jams caused by a/ lane removal (as in bus lanes etc) b/ stuck behind buses picking up passengers at those protruding bus stops. c. having to keep stopping at traffic lights having their default changed to the minor route. d/ removal of alternative routes. They think we don't notice. They expect us all to drive newer and more efficient cars, or hybrid/electric cars. Who can afford them? I certainly can't but I still need my car to get to work There are no buses to pick me up from Worksop or Breadsall Priory Hotel (just 2 places I work) at 1 or 2 O'clock in the morning.
FLY2 10,109
Now don't you remember..... motorists are way down the list of priorities with the City Council. What about being stuck behind a truck vainly trying to negotiate a left hand turn at various junctions and having to take three attempts at it because it's so tight. I'm just glad I don't drive for a living nowadays. Truckers have my utmost sympathy these days. Just look at the news...... Oo ooh pile up in the M1...... Trucks involved. Must be their fault. Rubbish, it's invariably stupid inconsiderate motorists ! 1

Cliff Ton 10,556
Evening Post site have redesigned their format.  At first glance the adverts aren't as annoying as they used to be; although it may be that I didn't get far enough.  I'm not sure I like the new style; a bit too in-yer-face.   http://www.nottinghampost.com/news/
tabbyoddsocks 28
Can't say I'm very impressed with the new style Nottingham Post site either. Â
