LizzieM 9,025
Absolutely FLY, as 'Mr Chumley-Warner' stated, "the Market Square had character". There was a definite buzz about the place, a meeting place for several generations and we all have good memories of how it was. Why was it changed? To allow wheelchair access was one reason ...... that could have been arranged without taking it all up and building a flat characterless open space. No, there was more to it than allowing wheelchair access! But I'll leave that debate for those Nottstalgians who dare comment!
FLY2 10,101
Well Lizzie, you stuck your neck out the other week by mentioning the Mellors family. Greased palms, back handlers and envelopes of used notes spring to mind.... Allegedly!

Went in to Town the other day and the old council house looked like it could do with a bit of TLC. come on you councilors spend some money on the gal. Lets have The Queen of the Midlands Back. Goodness knows what the Germanys (who have the Christmas Market) think of us.

mary1947 1,679
The other day on a Nottingham web site I read this !!!! Found in the caves of Nottingham a letter or parchment from Italy. We are seding you two lions which you can place in your Market Square the Lions are made of pure Italian Granit, We are sending these Lions as a thankyou for all the help that you gave our people during the war. These Lions though are only on a loan to you till 2022 so please can we have them back? The Nottingham council looked every where to see if they could find any paperwork saying that the lions belonged to the people of Nottingham. Well what can we say never ever again will our lions roar, when a young lass goe's by. Then I looked at the date? YES!!!! April 1st Well it got me thinking. ps I have just changed the wording a little bit.
