LizzieM 9,514
£6/8s/6d my first job as a Junior Secretary in 1967 going up to £7/4s/6d after 6 months. Could manage a great social life and Med holidays on that too. In fact I had TWO two week holidays in Mallorca in 1969, one costing £36 and the other £40. Life was great!

Guest
Lincoln vs Kennedy. Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth at Fords Theatre. Kennedy was shot in a Lincoln made by Ford. Both Presidents last names have 7 letters. Both assassins full names have 15 letters. After shooting Booth ran from a Theatre to a w/hse. After shooting Oswald ran from a w/hse to a Theatre Lincoln sat in booth 7. Kennedy's car in the motorcade was no.7. Both were elected into the house of representatives in '46 (18-19 ). Both assassins were killed before being tried. The two Doctors who attended the bodies were Charles's. ( leale & crenshaw). Both were elected President in '60 ( 18-19). Even more spooky..both Vice President names were Johnson!
Merthyr Imp 729
I understood Kennedy's car was 4th in the motorcade. Also, Crenshaw was only one of several doctors who attended Kennedy (and they weren't all called Charles!)
Guest
It was marked as 7 Mr.Imp,but as an expert like you will know the actual position of the car was different. My god I'm tiring of this shit!!

Jill Sparrow 10,316
#58 Elvis died on the lavatory. Nuff said! I believe astronomers worked out some years ago that Christ's birth probably took place in September, given that there were only ten months in the year in those days? benjamin1945 16,182
In the Hindu religion today is the festival of the Elephant,.........and did you know they have about 800 Gods,.............take me hat off to em,i have enough of a problem keeping THE ONE happy...........spent my day among Hindu's and some lovely people...........
MargieH 7,613
I think that the elephant god is called Ganesh. Despite having so many 'gods' a Hindu would still say that all Hindu gods and goddesses are the same god or divine energy, nameless and without form. I think they just choose a god which suits their particular circumstances
benjamin1945 16,182
That's right Margie...........Ganesh was the word they used,.......had my picture taken with some girls in their costumes, they looked beautiful and loved a white Englishman taking notice, like I just said lovely people................
Jill Sparrow 10,316
My favourite is Ganesh because I love elephants and I hate the way brainless human idiots hunt them for ivory. Lets have lots more elephants and a lot fewer people!

MargieH 7,613
Cliff Ton. How many members on average regularly use the site now? I've just written a list of names off the top of my head and got to 30. There must be more than that though...
Cliff Ton 10,482
That was always about the number of regulars, and still is; I don't think it's changed much recently. The problem is that some people are still stumbling and thrashing about trying to find their way around the layout. Visitors, but not as we know them. The big difference is the number of active posts and threads. At any given time there seem to be only two or three threads in operation, with everybody just posting in what already exists. The range and spread of the site has narrowed a lot.
FLY2 10,109
Exactly Cliff. I kept on 'new content ' and you could instantly see if new activity had occurred. On this, I'm constantly scrolling up down and everywhere. I've possibly missed stuff, in fact I know I have at times, but I catch up gradually. I can't cope with the word games now though as it is just too time consuming. Maybe come winter I'll give it more attention.
