I knew how to spend me money back then. Didn't need bus fare home Phil., the YMCA was on the other side of our street. That is, until they closed it and moved the club to join in with a club on Willoughby Street (I think). For some reason, Monty Hind club comes to mind.

Thankyou Lizzie. We managed this year to have a fairly " normal ?" Celebration. We invited some of my inlaws ( just 3 sisters and 1 Partner). We only had a cake and a few nibbles and  couple of bottles of bubbly but it was nice to be together in company. We had decided to sit outside so I put cushions on all the chairs then it got windy so we stayed in the kitchen.

Great day yesterday.....two of my Grandsons (9 and 6) spent the day with us...not seen em for about a year........i'm not an openly doting Grandad but i do love em to bits.......they spent all day playing on the Garden...mostly football...so decided to see if i'd still got any of my old skills.........much to their pleasure (and mine) i had..........

They loved it and couldnt stop laughing...I'd put my shorts and football socks on and was actually running with em...didnt think i still could....

They chanted ''Grandad'' ''Grandad'' so obviously played to the crowd.......felt ten years younger...when they went home...

Made me realise how much i'd missed em......to top it all..when the Daughter picked em up.....i saw my nearly two year old Grandaughter........who is obviously beautiful and full of cheeky character.........all in all a wonderful day............

CT which "old" photo? Last years 50 th anniversary one? No it won't be that one because we forgot to take any photos....busy catching up with in laws. I did take a few before they arrived though, but none with us. The only one was a video pic with my brother in law in France. He kept saying

" bacio, bacio, (kiss) so we did and he took the photo and sent it.

The one on Facebook a few days ago; you and your husband a few years ago.

...and I'm not sure what the problem is with posting photos here, but although they don't seem to work when you post them, I've edited the original and made it appear.

49 years ago today, I was trying to push a bowling ball through the eye of a needle! Well, that's what it felt like giving birth,  haha. This is the last year coming up when I've still got all 3 in their 40's. Getting old? Moi? Nooooo.

@katyjaywe have 3 children in their fifties and most of the time I don’t feel old (in my head that is ... the rest of my body sometimes disagrees ;) )

  • 2 weeks later...

How's me day today? Been down to the hospital for me annual Diabetic Rhetinopothy (photographs of back of the eye, for those who don't know). Had me drops in and after the 10min wait, had me pictures took. The technician was satisfied with the images and said there had been no deterioration since last time (2019), in fact if anything, the back of the eyes had a slight improvement. Must say I came away very reassured. Next will be phone consultation with me GP about my Thyroid, after a blood test a couple of weeks ago. Hope it's the same as me eyes.

We have an invasion of swallows. They dont care where they fly and sometimes we have to duck. They find all the best places to rest on, like on the light outside my front door. If I leave the door open for the dogs to go backwards and forwards they fly into the hallway. This morning I must put something on or over the light to stop them using it as a toilet. They've left " messages" everywhere. Having said that they are quite a site to see. We also have a bat and sometimes his whole family sleeping behind the window shutter above my kitchen window. They too leave "messages" but they aren't "love letters". Oh well I suppose I will have to get the hose pipe out.

I'm really pleased to read your post, nonna.  We've been worried by the lack of swallows here at the moment. It's nice to know they are alive and well somewhere.

There are bats near to me. I stand in the garden at dusk and watch them having fun. They are quite spectacular. Mr and Mrs Igor, I've named them!

What amazes me about the bats is how fast they are.  If you blink, you can miss them as they zoom back and forth in our garden.  Standing in the middle of the garden, clicking your fingers seems to attract them even more...
