mick2me 3,033
Ah yes I remember Raliegh being involved in it too now. The classic scene was the air rifle shot out of the window hitting the old girl in the backside
Ayupmeducks 1,730
Parts were filmed at the Castle, Old Radford and of course Raliegh Industries when my cousin worked there. Love to see the movie again, been years since I saw it. Didn't they have scenes at the Goose Fair on the Forest too?? John

Brian D 0
Was parts of that film filmed in Bulwell I seem to remember Albert Finney jumping off a trolley or motor bus about there Parts were filmed in Bulwell - the house which was featured still stands. The "dropping off the trolleybus" shot was taken as the bus came DOWN Derby Road, outside what was Pullman's the Furnishers.

Guest Anne
I remember one scene at Canning Circus. You could see the Co-op Funeral Home in the film, the one at Canning Circus that later was turned into a fish and chip shop.
Bip 88
You could see the Co-op Funeral Home in the film, the one at Canning Circus that later was turned into a fish and chip shop. B) That would be MR HADDOCK :D
admin 21
I think Mr Haddock would have been 70's. In the 60's I was an apprentice electrician for the Nottingham Co-Op, Building & Engineering Department, which was located on Abbey Street at Lenton. I have to worked at those premises, which were the Co-Op Funeral Service at that time. How many people knew what the premises were used for prior to frying Cod? :o

Tutanic 8
When you do get around to seeing this film again look out for a small black Corgi type dog walking around like he owns the place. It was my husbands when he was younger. He went to school with Alan Silitoe I believe, and it appears he was nothing like he portrayed in the books. A
Caz 25
Must try & remember to look out for the dog next time we watch. It's a great film I really enjoyed watching it recently.
Tutanic 8
I have just been informed by my husband that his dog, Rough, was fighting with an Alsatian, not walking about. A bit more useless information, the Albert Finney character was working in the three speed machine shop with a guy called Vince Howard standing behind him. Husband used to work in the same shop. Going back to the beginning of Raleigh Industries, on Raleigh Street there is an archway where it all started and husbands grandfather was one of the founder members. Just a bit of useless information. A
Coaster 1
I used to live on Gate Street (back of the Crown) and cycled to central. Well remember the crowds of people going to work at Raleigh. Some time later, used to do all Raleigh's photography. Just look at it now.

bamber 128
Yes, but why do actors always have such difficulty in doing a proper Nottingham accent? Those in SNSM were laughable and more akin to a general oop north / Yorkshire than anything that might have been heard at the Raleigh. That said: I come from Nottingham and I can't do the accent.
