  2. oh this is easy 1964 white heart opened a disco upstairs i was 13going on 14 and whent down the heart for the first few times in my life with some of the carlton bikers loved it after that went down with friends occationly for the next couple of years by the time i left school at 15 going down on a regular basis one or two times a weekend bythe next year going down 3 times a weekend thursday friday and sunday.

  7. my late brother was a member of the maperley buffs lodge and i seem to remember that was porchester lodge. my dad was a oniary member of the railway lodge held above jackie bells pub the railway hotel so as was said in earlier post lodges often named after the local pub the meettings were held in as den sez i am sure the shop will help you if it can. my dad was a oniary member as he was never in the forces but as a miner was in a reserved occupationso could not become a full member of the buffs
  8. wi plenty of salt my dad alwaystook bread and lard or bread and drippimg down the pit for his snap said it took the dust of his mouth and throught and helped stop it going to his lungs so much.
  9. i remember the cream perfumes my fave was the lilly of the valley woolies rimel range was the best selling make up and the most often soplifted by the young teenaged girls as well. whe i worked at bootd late 60s i worked packing the 7 and 17 range of make up you did not need to count sheep at night just close your eyes and you were still counting lippy. each box of lipstick conitained 144 lipsticksso if you needed say 84 they had to be counted and put in plastic bags. i always put 21 in each bag the most you could get in one bag was 36.and all the bottom lables had to go the one wayto make i
  10. i have got some friends who went to spain on saturday for a week our other friend flew back on saturday after five weeks at his spanish villa
  11. i also use citrenella oil mixed with baby oil as a repelant 1 egg cup baby oil to 3/4 drops cittranella oil . works for me. i use a small plastic bottle empty hand clenser bottles are great fill it up nearly to the top with babby oil then add about 12 drops cittranella to it put the top back on shake well . and keep it in the car or hand bag rub on bere parts of your flesh when ever you near flies gnatts insects ect.

  13. been to quite a few biker funerals where they have had the motorbike and side car outfit there was one last friday that i did not go to but was told by several people that the hearse did in excess of 70 mph in verious plases the funeral director rode pillion and i am told was holding his top hat on most of the way the deceased was in his biker leathers and his pipe helmet were also placed in his coffin . i have always said that i want a horse drawn cart to take me on my last rideyes i doo mean the steptoe type cart not the hearseno flowers but toys to be donated to a childrens charity. my ot
  14. welcome ricky i was born and spent my first 12 years in netherfield then move to carlton for another 10 years so knowthat area very well pluss several other nethoites on nottstalgia so if you need to know anything around that area someone on here usually comes up with the answer. lived and worked in nottingham all my life so know other areas of nottingham well too babs

  16. thats why we call him mr dynomo mellisa once he startshe is so dynamic was his own band backing him my mates daughter goes out with his lead guitarist. i must get my backside into gear and get myself to a rock and roll gig very soon not been for ages as every thing has been clashing with birthdays and wedings might go to crazy jos gig on saturday night at the strelly club off westliegh rd charity gig for cancer research .
  17. yes i did not know about it till i saw it in the paper after or i would have been there just to watch si again mr dynamo i have a few photoes taken with him at gigs. and some of his cds drive dave mad sometimes playing them over and over againhe is a realy nice guy too

  21. when we got married i went to live with daves mum and dad worst mistake i ever made after 2 years we moved in next door still no privacy even when we locked the door if any body ever asks me if they should move in with parents inlaws i always tell the dont do it even if it means going into somewere thats not rrealy what you would like find somewere of your own at a lower price then move up the ladder.at least 2 streets aways from the family.
