  3. that would be jock brown ian,......always seemed a misery but a real nice bloke when you got to know him,and very knowledgable regards the wine/spirit trade. he lived on arnold rd about 4 doors from the 'heathfield' pub.
  4. #6 shipman was more or less same age as me,i must have seen him school days,...high pavement and padstow school were on the same road,gainsford cres.bestwood est,...cant say i remember him..............and 'wickie' have it wrong......he was born on edwards lane est,not bestwood.

  6. my day was cheered when i read in the nottingham post of mrs sylvia fairholme being 100 yrs old last sat..currently residing at the lark hill retirement village,i saw her photo and thought i know that face,.............well its over 50 yrs since i'd seen her,she was a resident on bestwood est,for 69 yrs,a lovely lady that i knew from my days at (you've guest it), marsdens.lol. still got all her faculties and going strong,i was at school with one of her sons,had'nt seen owt of him either,(keith).she stated her secret was 'moderation in all things,............i like to think

  15. Yours was Posh Jim,my last Wedding (so far) was Shakespeare st Reg. office,.......followed by 'Cobs' and a sing song with Harry on Piano' at the 'Masons Arms' Old Basford............and it was wonderful,............

No other country in the world has a service like the BBC,with correspondents thru out,it employes around 30,000 staff,...i wish they still had the rights to Cricket,Football and much more in the Sporting world,......who can forget the Cricket commentators John Arlot,Peter West Jim Swanton and Brian Johnston,and the BBC World service is unique,.......i reckon its well worth the fee.

Lord Roberts,Broad st,...aged 15..........used to go to the Coop youth club round the corner (now coop arts centre i think) me and my mate Keith Attenborough duly penciled in Sideburns and tash,took a deep breath and in we went,......as i ordered 2 pints of Mild avoice behind me boomed out 'get me one Paul'....yes a Teacher from school....lol.

Parr's must had a factory for producing their products,they used to deliver their Pork products on a daily basis to retailers around Nottingham,at Marsdens we used to buy,Pork loins,Sausages,Pork Pies,Liver,Haslet on a daily,pattern,......i even remember one of their Van-salesman name of Paddy,big Red faced Irish bloke None of their products were pre-packed except the pies,............got a feeling they were based in Beeston.
