  1. No - that will be at the Notts County sale!
  2. Forgot to mention I did have a Defender some 20 years ago. That was stolen due to the inadequate security system.
  3. My wife had a LR Discovery some years ago. It knew its own way to the Lincoln dealership for all the recalls. In my company Range Rover you could see daylight through the driver's door seal.
  4. Look at the tv footage. The jacket and trousers are not of the same colour. Personally I don't really care but I am a pedant!
  5. He wasn't even wearing a suit - just a scruffy brown jacket and grey trousers. He still hasn't mastered the art of wearing a tie. I think his dress sense shows lack of respect to the House of Commons. Most of the time I'm more than happy to be scruffy but there are occasions when one has to make an effort. We always dress for dinner here at Mayfield Towers!
  6. Does anyone know the asking price? Trew bought it for £1 with around 1.5 million debt. That's considerably more now under his stewardship. Say around 30p? Tempting isn't it?
  7. As a potential statesman he needs to smarten himself up. I don't want to be represented by a scruffy erk like Corben. However he does ask sensible questions of Cameron but fails to get a proper reply. Cameron should not be using question time to pass insults. Not impressed by either of them.
  8. Well, according to the most recent accounts, the net worth of the company is minus £4,119,676. I believe the ground is owned by the City Council. Is there money to be made by investing here? There are people who enjoy the kudos of owning a football club so someone of wealth may step forward. Good luck to them.
  9. Bumping into old friend's trousers???
  10. Well he bought the club for £1. Offer him £2 and it could be yours!
  11. How can you get rid of Ray Trew? He and his wife own 97% of the shares - even though the club is only worth minus £4.1 million!
  12. If you are "interested" in freemasonary "The Brotherhhood" by Steven Knight is an interesting investigation. I don't believe in a "supreme being" so I wouldn't qualify.
  13. Yes, I remember the name Lloyd at Arno Vale. David, I think, in our year. Can't put a face to him though. Was Marian's surname Fell?
  14. Take care when you cross the Trent at "Bleasby Ferry". It's a bit too deep for a scooter these days.
  15. I had never thought about a personalised plate until one day I was accosted by a rather pompous elderly lady who lived on our lane. "Do you have a personalised number plate?" she asked. I replied that hadn't and was not especially interested in having one. "Good" she said - "If you ever get a personalised plate I will never speak to you again!" This, of course, ignited the flame and when I got home I went online and bought three - all of which alluded to my surname. Sadly she died soon afterwards.
  16. Isaac Newton lived at Woolsthorpe (by Colsterworth) - not the Woolsthorpe (by Belvoir) - both in the Grantham area though. My only tenuous connection with Kinoulton is that my mother in law was born there!
  17. Dabbit was a brilliant stain remover. However the ingredient was carbon tetrachloride which was carcinogenic. That's why we don't see it anymore!
  18. I tried some a few years ago after remembering older relatives eulogising about tripe and onions after the cinema on a Saturday night pre war. It was disgusting.
  19. Judging by the number of cars outside my local at "early doors" the drink driving message has not got home to some people. I've been in (on foot!) and they're not drinking Coca Cola.
  20. The Thurland Arms used to have a "men only" bar. Happy days!
  21. £1 for half litre of beer in a supermarket and 45p for a litre of tonic. A pub's got to have a lot of ambience and interesting customers to make it worthwhile to turn out - and then you've got to walk there on a cold winter's evening.
  22. £5 - for a pint of bitter and a tonic water in one of my locals (country pub) - that's why pubs are closing down!
  23. There's an interesting book about the WW2 oil exploration called "The Secret of Sherwood Forest" available online from Amazon.
  24. I live in one of those villages! Best side of Nottingham for commuting to town - not that I go into Nottingham unless absolutely necessary these days.
