  1. So pleased you are recovering well, Lizzie. Sorry we can't make a visit to see you this time xx
  2. Commo, as Carni says...and I hope your daughter will soon get her appointment x
  3. My 'urgent' eye clinic appointment is now on 30 August, despite several phone calls asking for an earlier appointment. But they reassuringly told me that if my eyesight got SUDDENLY worse and I couldn't see, I had to go straight to A&E. I'm telling myself that the optician who referred me to the hospital was being over-dramatic.... hope he was anyway!
  4. A horse sounds good, but one bought today would be good for nothing by 2040..... It will be back to horse drawn caravans as well, as an electric car wouldn't be able to tow our caravan, unless they will be more powerful by then? Don't know why I'm even thinking about it as I'll be 97 or dead in 2040!!
  5. The speed with which you get hospital appointments here seems to vary considerably. Children get seen quickly, which is good, but there doesn't seem the same urgency with older people, unless they are very ill. I'll let you know when I get my appointment - thanks for your replies xx
  6. I went to the optician today only 7 months since my last appointment because I'm conscious that my eyes are getting worse. After all the usual tests, he said "By coming to see me today, you may well have saved your sight!" I am apparently on the borderline between dry and wet macular degeneration and he's written an urgent referral letter to my GP which I delivered to the surgery when I got back. At the hospital, they will do a scan of my eyes and I'll maybe have the needle thingy in my eyes to stop the AMD progressing! What 'urgent' means is anyone's guess... He said that if my sigh
  7. Just found this picture of me aged 16 with twins I used to look after sometimes.. My mum made my rock and roll print skirt and I LOVED it
  8. Kev, she wouldn't recognise you from your avatar on here - you pink panther, you!
  9. Just watched the film but couldn't get the sound loud enough to hear everything (the tennis was on TV!). She was obviously 'possessed' for a while by the dead Elizabeth, who met her beloved doctor at last (even though he was dead) and this was sufficient to let her now R.I.P. Fairly interesting plot but I thought the acting was very stiff and too carefully 'staged'. However, this is true of many old films - it's what makes them charming in a way... quite enjoyed it although didn't find it riveting. Thanks for posting it, Chulla
  10. 5 second rule applies...... (unless you are somewhere where the floor/ground is particularly filthy!)
  11. Brew, bet you copied and pasted it into your search engine, same as I did! I realised it was something about dinosaurs...
  12. Found this on Facebook this afternoon. Thought it was amusing .... didn't know where to post it but thought this place might be appropriate...
  13. Not really spooky..... it's the imprint of a pigeon that flew straight into our window this morning. It flew off again ....didn't appear to be injured
  14. Do you like my ghost bird? Took a photo of it this morning...
  15. Really enjoyed reading your post, Col, even though I'm not familiar with that particular area. I can remember most of those flowers from my childhood roaming, but also huge purple clover flowers which grew near the brickyard in Mapperley. We used to pull the petals out and suck the nectar from the base or make thick clover chains instead of the fragile daisy chains. Also remember 'egg and bacon'. Your mention of hawthorn berries reminded me that we used to cut open rose hips and try and put them down people's backs - they were itchy! I have 'hearts ease' in my garden - I love them st
  16. I could never post pictures from photobucket using the iPad - had to move over to the laptop, but now, using postimage, I can use both... although they do work a bit differently
  17. I've just re-read all the posts on this thread, where most people were moaning about the changes to the site. I presume everyone is now happy again - at least the people who persevered with it? I know I've got no problem using NS now and never even think about how it used to be. I bookmarked 'unread content' so go straight there each time - easy peasy....
  18. Phil, I've always understood the meaning of that question like this...No-one is the absolute “keeper” of other people in that we are not responsible for other people's behaviour but, in another way, every person IS his brother’s keeper because we should care about the welfare of others and try to bring about the best for them.
  19. Well said Loppy, couldn't have said it better myself! and Phil... it's good to hear that you're an honest man, too!
  20. Steady on, Phil! That's a sweeping statement. Paul was self employed and NEVER fiddled his tax. When people used to offer him cash, he would always tell them that it didn't matter how they paid, the price was the same and everything was declared. We never employed an accountant as he was capable of doing the accounts himself! Even now, when he fills in his tax return, it's all done in an honest way. I suppose if we'd employed an accountant then THEY may have used some 'tricks' but we certainly don't!
  21. I think i was 9 or 10 in this photo < ...and 5 or 6 in this one Sorry the pictures are so big - I'll try the thumbnails next time
  22. Lily Millie is a beautiful cat - bet she needs a lot of grooming, though. Our two are shedding huge lumps of hair in this warm weather, despite being combed whenever they come near me. I keep the comb handy!!
  23. Enigma, thank you for that ..... don't know what it means, though!
  24. I've just looked in General settings and it says stuff like: capacity 13.07GB available 3.85GB version 10.3.2 (14F89) model MD 510 B/A Is that any help to find out what kind of iPad this is? useless, aren't I .......
  25. Hello Lainy, welcome to the forum
