catfan 14,795
I see many old threads just lately being resurrected on here. Is this forum that quiet ? or is radfordred on commission ?
Merthyr Imp 729
I'll tell you in a couple of years time.
Michael Booth 7,364
I've enjoyed radfordred resurrecting old threads and yes, catfan, I sometimes find that there's not enough NOTTINGHAM content being posted on Nottstalgia.
LizzieM 9,539
RadfordRed is bored ......... no footy to watch for a few weeks
Ayupmeducks 1,730
Eeeee, that "wun" were a bit of an "owd wun"...
carni 10,094
I enjoy reading the "Old topics" when they are brought back. Back in the archives, there are some very interesting Topics: and when browsing we can still miss some really good posts. Besides it gives the new Nottstalgians chance to add their contributions.
DJBrenton 738
There's a term for bumping old threads, necrobumbing.
Michael Booth 7,364
Then why is the 'Search' feature available?.
Ayupmeducks 1,730
To help find members who get lost??? LOL
Michael Booth 7,364
Nice one, Ayupmeducks.
BilboroughShirley 1,120
#6 I agree Carni. The archives are so interesting and when someone is new to the site it takes a while to explore all of the threads. Also members can add extra information to an old thread and this is valuable.
mercurydancer 1,104
Some of the older threads can be very interesting indeed. The older comments put the newer ones into context, which a search function cannot do. You also cannot search for something you didnt realise was there in the first place. I often find myself looking at the earlier posts on a thread which has been bumped, and often to mick2me and cliff ton's links too. Spent many happy hours doing that.
Cliff Ton 10,547
The problem with the 'Search' feature is that it's limited to a certain time-span, unless you go deeper into the settings and specifically make it search further back.
Bubblewrap 3,815
Here's a song about it.
radfordred 6,284
I apologize, I just find it pointless to keep starting new treads? Most of the rubbish I post gets removed anyway.
Cliff Ton 10,547
So how long do we have to wait before this thread gets resurrected?
Bubblewrap 3,815
When this happens
DaveN 1,118
I don’t think there’s any harm in resurrecting an old thread providing the new post is both relevant to the subject of it and not some unnecessary and stupid comment.
Compo 10,328
I quite like seeing old Fred and his information resurrected.
