Why don’t they sack the players and keep the manager?

That is a good thought, far too many on over inflated pay packets without putting any effort in.

What about a low base salary with huge win bonuses or would that lead to fixing games?

You heard it here first.

You were right Mess, all done and dusted.

Hope he has a massive clear out of deadwood and hangers on.

A not too difficult start at home against mid table AFC Bournemouth on Saturday, let's see what happens.

I think the owner is the problem but how do you get rid of him?

The Bournemouth game is going to be very telling.

I think the new man is going to have all the same issues that Steve Cooper had to endure.

I agree Mess, who is in charge of player purchasing? It is usually the manager that gets the boot but unless he has the say on what players are bought and play, that's hardly fair.

I hear the County fans call Forest owner shipping magnet Evangelos Marinakis "the Fridge Magnet"

Big thanks to Stevie Cooper . Got us from the bottom of the Championship to the Premier League and survived the first season.

Great time at Wembley in between.

He will always be a legend in the history of Forest for me (a supporter for over 60 years).

Some photos of past Forest players and teams from the 60s and 70s. Many I had forgotten.

We need players like these now not the overpaid, namby pamby prima donnas that are playing for the Reds these days.

Photos from the Chad website Nottingham Forest photos from the 60s and 70s every fan needs to see (chad.co.uk)

I only ever went to a few Forest matches in the mid-60s, and it's interesting to see the players who were in the team in those days.

And it's almost comical to see that Frank Wignall was signed in 1963 for £20,000. There are players now who earn that in a few minutes.

I knew a few of those lads in the late 60’s and early 70’s.  They were all out  in the clubs on a Wednesday night, their big night out before they had to abstain from drinking to prepare for the Saturday game.  Nowadays there are games virtually every day of the week and the players are a lot fitter.  The launderette photo was probably taken to promote John Barnwell’s business at that time.

I remembet going to see County in the late 50s meeting some of the players in the corner sweet shop on Meadow Lane before the game my hero at that time was Jimmy Linton the goalkeeper only making a few quid a week no armed guards or escorts then made you feel like part of the team.

I can remember John Robertson being down the boat clubs back in the day.

We need a Wignall a Zigger Zagger or an Ian Storey-Moore more than ever at the moment. Lack of goal scoring capability will inevitably lead to relegation.

County - An away draw would have been good against league leaders Stockport County so the 1-2 loss was not unexpected given Notts recent form. All the goals were either at the start or end of the game with Notts scoring in the 93rd minute. A form reversal is needed before they fall out of the play off places and they are now 4 points behind an automatic spot but having played 2 games more than the last place. A "local" derby against 19th placed Doncaster at Meadow Lane on Boxing Day should turn the tide and home against Morecambe on the 29th.

Oz,

Notts played very well last night against the league leaders.

Stockport were very physical and had to defend for the majority of the game.

The first goal should have been prevented but to be fair Stockport's second came from a Notts defender slipping over leading to a penalty.

I was very encouraged by Notts performance and they deserved at least a point having given a very good account of themselves.

If Notts can perform like that for the second half of the season they should manage the playoffs.

Forest's game today is going to be very interesting.

Will Nuno give them the new manager bounce against the Premier League's most inform team Bournemouth who have taken 10 points from their last 4 games?

It's a very hard one to call and I predict a draw as some of the Forest team decide to perform before Nuno has a clear out.

Happy Christmas Oz, don't get sunburned eating your turkey.

10 versus 12 was never going to work out well. Diabolical refereeing saw Boly booked and sent off when replays showed he had actually cleared the ball before being caught on his ankle by the Bournemouth player. And then there’s the clear handball that got ignored…

It appears from the internet that the referee is a Derby fan.
