The lake at the end of our field now has an egret paddling in the shallows, two mallards swimming and a flock of seagulls. I’m expecting a visit from David Attenborough soon!

After six weeks in hospital fighting the novovirus and slowly regaining my strength I have been told I can go home tomorrow. Will still need some ongoing treatment, but at home. I never thought I would get out before Christmas. It will be a quiet one but at home. Yay

Lunch was a bacon sarnie with lashings of butter and HP sauce with a cup of strong tea and sugar.

Feel better already. Steak and baked potato with butter and cheese with a salad for dinner.

Today is one of my favourite days. It is the shortest day of the year, from now on the days will become longer , yes increasing daylight spring and summer is on its way.

I'm not a Christmas person but I always celebrate the Winter Solstice.  It's a long climb out of the trough back to the spring but, somehow, it always feels more positive once the solstice has taken place.
