  3. When our city had real shops?? Person's great shop but when i first married and went into the Kitchen dept=ment to look at a fitted kitchen, the sales man ask me what I was looking at (their was a pull down slatted blind which I liked) at this blind was my reply. Sales man well if I were you I would not look any more as you won't be able to afford it. British customer service never changes!. Griffins an' Spalding Used to walk though G/S just to feel that 4" carpet under my feet, as at the time not many of us had fitted carpets.

  4. Well I'm back home and we've had a crackin' night over at our little community centre, with a turnout of 30 people, which at £2 entry netted 60 quid, half to the winners and half to our social fund. Better still though, the winners gave back their winnings to the social fund, so the residents benefit all round. I did a mixture of verbal questions, visual idententification and musical intros. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and because they bring their own refreshments and nibbles, nobody wentv without. Got back home at 22.45, knackered and just wanting a cup of tea. It's a lovely fee

  8. I'm confused. I was under the impression that the Police had already decided to investigate Angela Raynor's tax affairs a couple of weeks ago. Yet it's headline news on the BBC today, Of course, the sight of well known fraudster Grant Schapps getting all indignant about supposed 'hyoocrisy' on the part of Raynor is irony of epic proportions.

  12. Just read an article in "The Grid Iron" saying that many Notts farmers have been refused compensation for flooding as their farms are "Too far from a major river". Nottinghamshire is one of the worst affected counties. The DEFRA guidelines say that farms more than 150 metres from a major river are not eligible for a grant of between 500 and 25,000 pounds to return their land to the condition it was in before the major storm event, Storm Henk, in January. The farming minister Mark Spencer is from a farming background in Nottighamshire. He should be sinking a size twelve toe-capped wellie into t

  13. Just wondering if any of you may remember a shop on Alfreton Rd called Linneys or Lineys I'm not sure of the spelling. It was in the row of shops between Newdigate St & Raleigh St and it sold stationery and artists equipment. My mum bought me a very nice fountain pen from there when I started Manning, together with a bottle each of blue and black Quink ink and some colouring pencils in a tin.
