  2. They change the name and number of the City of Lincoln every now and again, I think you one you have Mick came from the late 70s early 80s and the correct number was PM-M2 looked like PM-M squared if you know what I mean, either just before or just after that number was used it used the markings AJ-G as in the Dambusters Guy Gibsons plane, I have also seen it in the markings of J- Johnny as in Johnny Walker complete with the Scotch whiskey logo and Mickey the Moocher with a picture of Mickey Mouse on the front but cant remember their numbers, I have some pics somewhere I'll try and find them,

  4. Thats the one, thanks for the pick, in the upstairs right side window was the managers office, the other two were the spares rooms full of old stuff as mentioned in an earlier thread, the garage itself had three boom type fuel pump arms going over the pavement on the right side and a diesel pump boom on the left side, the original doors were painted red and were a bu99er to slide open in the mornings especially for a weedy apprentice like myself, there were cobbles on the pavement directly in front of the doors, in the very early days of the garage it catered for cycles and motor cycles (circa

  7. Hi Braddy, I think the chippy was somewhere near the village green, but I do remember the shop you talk of at the bottom of the bridge, last time I went past there it looked like a pottery or ceramics shop Rog
  8. Come over Clifton bridge from the Clifton side of the river, turn immediately left and double back on yourself follow the track that is/was there and the farm house is/was at the end of the track on the right, more or less in front of that concrete warf opposite where the Fairham brook enters the river Rog

  10. Back in the 1980's a boarded up building was opened up in Ruddington and in the front room was a chippy complete with fryer and till that was left over from the 1940's, still had the newspaper for wrapping up the chips, turns out it was the village chippy forgotten by all the locals, can anyone remember this being in the news? Rog

Glad to see this thread being kept alive, I too was in Fleming house, tutor set FC with Mr Brittain who used to teach tech drawing and engineering, a great inspiration to any boy interested in pursuing engineering or mechanics as a career, also remember Mr Dobinson (English) Mr Wright (Chemistry) Mr Walsh (English/Geography) Mr Burns (maths) Mr Holt (music) Great memories but hated every minute of the place Rog

  18. Was apprenticed to a small family run garage at the bottom of Sneinton road (Claringburn and Codd) in the late 60's early 70's that used to have the boom type petrol/diesel pipes that swung over the footpath to reach the road side, upstairs to the garage apart from the office was a spares room that had all sorts of rare and wonderful bits in it such as old sized tyres (1910 dated), wooden motor car wheels, old fashioned carriage/car lamps with wicks and some very old ledger books full of info dating back to the early 1900's when the place sold and repaired motor cycles and cycles, wish I had
