With the late warm weather we have had there is still a lot of summer left in the garden. I have got a beautiful Witch hazel tree with glorious red leaves but I'm rubbish at posting photos.

That Church Hall in your pic David #6 is where my children went to their play group over 40 years ago. I was probably sharing that Park Drive with you carnie.

Lovely pictures Compo, your home looks very isolated I should think you have a large freezer and a well maintained generator plus a good supply of "Old Pultener" for the winter months.

I love the smell of freshly cut grass

That's what is good about this site Jill it jogs our memory and gets us thinking of things long forgotten.

Margie I can see where you are coming from regarding community activities but just a few steps away is the Memorial Hall, with stage toilets and a kitchen. I would think suitable for any community activity you could want. I did inquire if the problem was damage wood worm ect. and was told they were fine. I do put the destruction of the interior of our old churches on the same level as the destruction of our old buildings. I think people will say in years to come , why did we let it happen and no one will have an answer.

Welcome Shaz58 hope you enjoy Nottstalgia!

#14 As you know carni my late husband also sat on that front seat two months after yours. I go back to All Hallows occasionally usually at Christmas time feeling very nostalgic but last Christmas I was shocked to see all the old pews had been taken out with other original features. It was as if its heart had been ripped out, or am I just being a sentimental oldie. I was told it was to make it community friendly.

Ian I would say it's a water problem they like lots of water but as you live in Ireland, can't say that.

It would be nice to see you on the 12th MD and don't worry about meeting new people, I felt just the same going to my first meet but everyone made me feel welcome. Now I can't wait for the next one.

#57 Hello Conway V nice to here from another Gedlingite. I too was born and grew up in Gedling, on the same side of the road opposite Skellington the Barbers or Skello's as we called it. Although I would have only been nine in 1957 I had a few older Brothers and Sisters ( nine to be exact ) so you may have known one or two. As for the arches on Ranmoor Road I think they were new structures in a garden, as children we called them the church arches.

All the best Dave, wishing you a speedy recovery.

#102 That's the thing which irritates me Kev but I have got on with most of the other things better than I thought I would. At first it was like some one had stolen my comfy pair of slippers and then I realised they were only comfortable after I had worn them for a while.
